Yes? - burn
Doubtful...those were the numbers they were assigned...don't think they allow them to choose. Only the UFA, guys that are traded for have their desired numbers. |

Just a quick thought on this.
You can talk all you want about nylander outperforming his peers statistically, but now it comes down to more than that.
Back checking, winning face offs as a centre, positioning.
Detroit made Tatar and Nyquist over develop and even forced pulkinnen to stay in the ahl despite him statistically dominating the league.
We keep saying we want the Detroit model, well keeping nylander down for at least the beginning of this year is the Detroit model - ILoveLamp
When were those guys drafted?
Later rounds? So they were guys taken later with upside, allowed to season until they hit their upside. ie. exactly what I said
Unfortunately, Detroit never had a top 10 pick to see how they would have treated them |

no, those numbers were what were given to them by management and coaching staff.
kadri wanted to wear his junior number if you remember and was told no

I can't see it as a viable option. Putting yourself offside while rest of line changes opens you up to being stripped and creating breakaway.
Easier to carry it in/ dump in and change. - burn
i think the idea is that your line doesn't change and hangs back while someone intentionally goes offside. This causes a whistle, and hence a line change. vs dump in where goalie intercepts and makes a play for an odd man rush against.
remember its the long change in OT. an exhausted D is going to be hard pressed to make it back to teh bench before the play is moving back up the ice. |

there is no hard and fast rule but generally vets get to choose their number
other teams might let the kids pick their own numbers too.. but the Burke Nonis era didnt |

An earlier poster suggested that Luke Schenn would make a good partner for Phaneuf and pointed out that his trade value is currently pretty low. Might be worth it to see if Dion just needs a proper partne........ (frank), I can't do it. - 1979AD

Gardiner was wearing number 19 in Wisconsin and with the Marlies.
Obviously, that number wasn't available with the Leafs. |
