how can you say he looks ready when he has never even played one game against a full NHL roster?

- Dozzer

I may be wrong, but didn't he play the last game of the season?

And that is another one taking a spot away from younger players even in pre season, I would rather see someone like Leivo get his minutes, it's a wasted roster spot.

For all those who missed it, seems like some have, the management did in fact say, if the younger players out perform the PTO's or older signed players, they will get their chance on the roster. If they are full of BS then nothing has truly changed.

completely agree... in Arcobello's case - I really don't know what management was thinking.... purely wasted pro contract in my opinion.

there's at least three guys (Marlies) I can think of I would rather see get those minutes - guys like Carrick, heck the contract would have been better spent on one enforcer type in my opinion - I would rather have brought back McLaren.

Babcock said tie goes to the veteran, and Lou said "If we THINK a player is ready for the NHL, we're going to leave him down a little longer"

This press conference involving Patrick Kane's alleged victim's lawyer sounds like something out of a movie.

that part worries me... particularly because Babcock (got to love the competitive nature) always wants to win.....

a) "little Willy" Nylander has definitely outperformed others in same position - that being said it has been against primarily AHL rosters (but still a good sign)
b) on defense... the young guys have looked considerably better (my opinion) than the incumbents e.g. thought the Neilsen kid look good compared with Marincin, Fraser and I thought Loov looked considerably better than everyone except Rielly in the Ottawa game.
c) thought Leivo - despite getting rocked last night - looked better than Setoguchi, Frattin or Boyes

I think they are trying to maximize the amount of draft picks throughout the whole rebuild so that it gives Hunter more wiggle room when drafting. The more you get, the more chance you have of picking a player whose development carries through the while time. So many players hit a wall in their development and don't become the player people thought they could've been.

These PTO's will happen for a number of years to come, but will diminish to the odd 1 or 2 like other teams. The more skilled "prospects" we find in the draft, the easier it becomes to trade some away for specific needs.

While we will continue to trade down for more picks the next few years, that will change. We will start trading up once we see the upswing of the organization. The organization is so far behind multiple teams, that at the moment, in lower rounds quantity is actually extremely important.

This idea of one year rentals will probably happen next year and maybe the year after. There are really only about 4 guys (maybe 3) on the Leafs that actually matter. What matters more is an established environment of ethics, responsibility and expectations.

There will be pain. There will be no shortcuts.

ya... but you said Marner is a bust already... surely we're allowed to label Arcobello as a wasted pro contract?

Essentially the lawyer is eluding to the press that the physical evidence was tampered with and then it was anonymously dropped off at the victim's mother's house by a good samaritan.

Walshy for the new position of "VP - In charge of reminding ShanaLouCock to stay the course"....

and yes - that's an official position.
