Weber gets a lot of top line PP . I am sure Hutton has a better shot and attacks the net more than any other D

Sure,,, but he wasnt even on the radar for the playoffs on the Comets, they released him.

I'm not so sure he is ready to do that in the NHL yet.

I don't think they needed to is all. Corrado would do fine as a #6 and needs the games.

On the other hand, if they trade Hammer... it makes complete sense and Corrado will get games because of injury....

I don't have a problem with Bartowski. He's fine in a 2nd or 3rd pairing (4/5).

- boonerbuck

Corrado doesn't even have much upside at this point(development has stalled). I'd imagine most would be happy if he can become a decent bottom pairing dman in his prime, which is slightly better than what Bartkowski is(6/7 dman). If he can't beat our Bartkowski for minutes then he's really not that talented.

He's not a shutdown dman or an offensively catalyst or a possession driver.

Bartkowski was actually an OK signing.

Kids can grow up a lot in a summer.

I will be truthful also I thought Comets D was not much weaker than Canucks.

Canucks could have used Pedan last year in the playoffs.

Biega fit in seamlessly

And COrrado and Clendenning played as well Weber Sbisa Stanton did last year.

Sanguinetti was another big body that I feel could have been good also.

I am not a fan of the top 3 . I would hang on to two of them only.

We need a big hitter , a puck mover , a shot , and a fighter.

I think we need to move either Hamhuis or Edler.

When we speak of Weber, it's strictly the PP or you are right,,,, anyone can replace him pretty much. None of them have 10 goal potential this season imo. I only think Weber does because he already has... hard to ignore that.... and expect it from players who are just out of college.

Sure, a kid can grow up a lot in one summer. 10 goals anchoring a PP... thats a pretty big stretch...

After 2 years, you would have thought you might have figured this out.

It's a one year one million contract. Hutton will replace Weber this year or in the next two years. This is a stop gap D aside from Tanev and Edler

Yeah, didnt I just say #6. I don't expect much offense out of him as a bottom pairing 5 on 5 and a stay home dman... but once he steps onto the blue line on the 2nd PP, he can actually shoot and move the puck. Thats all I meant....

I think we would see a much better confident Corrado once he gets another 100 games under his belt. He's not really top 4 material... but I think he could be a solid 5 who chips in on the pp.

Vrbata plays a pretty good 200ft game; you make it sound like he's a less offensively gifted version of Kessel.

As far as character, who would you pair him with instead?

- CubanBuffet

Burrows.

Joking.

To be honest I'd rather Horvat on the 3rd line and work with some of our vets. I'll get blasted for this I'm sure but I liked that triple H line of Higgins, Horvat, Hansen. Obviously Higgins is injured but you know what I'm saying.

I think the defensive parts of the game are far more complex and harder to learn.

Paring Horvat with another rookie like Sven, specially on the second line, is asking for trouble. A lot of pressure on both players.

Lastly, I would feel sorry for Vrbata. Last year of contract and he has to play with one question mark and a sophomore with upside.

Exactly, everyone is quick to suggest moving Hamhuis, but just imagine what our D would look like without him.
Best case scenario is he pulls a Vermette, is trade at TDL and returns to the fold.
Beyond that, I would not be disappointed if he re-upped for a another 3-5 years and would not be disappointed if we move him near the end of the season (assuming we have a plan to somehow address on the D corps next off season.
