ok cool...was just wondering... since the Leafs passed on him for Marner..will be fun to watch each develop.

Probably more about need anyway, no?

Canes are loaded with high-end D prospects now, Leafs felt a bigger need for talent at forward. I think Marner is going to be a pretty great player, but my god has Hanifin looked good.

He was absolutely dominant vs the rest of the Canes rookies. Looked like a man amongst boys out there.

Of course, he does his off-season training with Rob Gronkowski.

let them learn how to win together as a team on the marlies

Pretty much. Learn as a group, and then just keep adding pieces (Plug in Marner, basically) as you can.

exactly.. build the core in the minors and move it up

this on the fly core building at the NHL level has worked about as well as a square tire

I dont like your excitement... If the leafs passed on Scott Neidermayer ..we better have drafted the next Yzerman

I don't think he's Neidermeyer. Seems to be a little less of a rover in the offensive zone. Plays more like Bourque did.

Maybe, but seems a stretch.

50 seems like probably a real nice year for him.

i still would have taken him over Marner myself

the idea of a Hanifin Rielly top pairing was very appealing to me

c'est la vie

Had I known Nylander would have stepped it up big time, I would have advocated Hanifin too but then again... I still think Marner will be a gem

I don't think anyone in the top 6-7 this past draft will be disappointed. My guess.

Funny, I would have liked Marner. Of course, I was operating under the assumption that there was no way the Canes were getting Hanifin.

Still, if you guys an grab another draft pick or two your odds of finding abig center that can play between Nylander and Marner are very high.

Plus you have Kapanen now too
