And over the next few years the Cap will rise, and no issue..

I love your optimism, but the weak Canadian dollar is a pretty dark cloud on that horizon.

And remember: expansion fees do not count as league revenues, so that won't bump up the cap.

Leafs will need that 1.2 mil when the cap rises to 78 mil and our subpar NHL backup goalie won't be making as much as 2.3 mil.

True Story,

My youngest girl still lives at home for the next couple of months, she is 22. She was home the other day with period cramps that were making her ill. So, I left work, went to the store and bought her some Midol Extra strength. When I arrived at the cash t pay the young cutie working says to me " how are you today Sir, as I pass her the pills. " Without missing a beat, I replied " Felling a little bloated today my dear "

She lost her shiit for 3 or 4 minutes laughing..

Kessel's unwillingness to backcheck has been completely blown out of proportion by Leafs Nation.

Did he dog it in the final 20 games of the season? Hell yes - the entire team did.

Guess what? We wanted the entire team to dog it. Management wanted the team to dog it. The season was over. They sold off a few spare parts, fired the coach, hired a guy who couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag, tried to institute a new system in February, and looked the other way when it inevitably, purposely fell apart.

JVR hustles 62.87% less than Kessel.

Bozak is an effing joke. Anyone who has watched a game live realizes this by about midway through the 2nd period.

But hey, Leafs Nation should rejoice - we just gave away the best forward of the 2014 Olympics for a handful of dog poop, and we managed to retain salary.

Everyone should give themselves a giant pat on the back - we sure showed Kessel, didn't we? He may make $8 million dollars and be Olympic MVP, but we know how to play hockey waaaaaaaay better than him, don't we? WE ARE LEAFS NATION!

Can't wait to ship out Dion Phaneuf. Invited to Team Canada summer camp. Plays 27 minutes a night. Every guy he's played with in Toronto has gone on to be bounced out of the league or exposed as a 5-6 defenceman.

But we don't like him either. He makes too much money! Do you know how hard I work every day at the plant? And effing Phaneuf didn't win us a Stanley Cup last year - that's on the captain!

It's the bitter working class hero crap that unites us all.

Pretty much.
and those b!tching about Kessel now were the same ones loving him during his career year or defending the trade against boston fans a couple of seasons ago.
So much entertainment.

But we have the Jays now....with real stars .....who cares about the leafs.

It's effing Toronto fan disease.

Our best players are never good enough, but our 4th line plugs who try hard are elevated to God status.

Kessel sucked, but Komarov is underpaid at $3 million a year X 4 years.

I have some red wine, but I don't have time to hit the drug store.

Do you mind picking me up a box of Midol Extra Strength on the way home?

Some have only that to cling to, like Phaneuf being invited as one of the 50 D men invited to Team Canada camp

I don't think we will be crippled by $1.2 million. Just the opposite, in fact: it's such an insignificant number (i.e., it really doesn't provide Pittsburgh with any cap relief) that it's more a badge of humiliation for Leafs management. They really couldn't trade away Phil Kessel without retaining salary?

My comment was more directed at the notion that the salary cap is inevitably going to grow leaps and bounds in the next few years.

With both national TV contracts locked in for the next few years (a good thing, fer shure, but I don't expect significant revenue growth from them), it means tickets revenues will have to increase. That's tough with a sinking Canuck ruble.

Yes because I said "crippled"
Its a stupid cap hit...taken on in a bad trade.

These little cap hits, get in the way of making deals when it counts sometimes.

we dont care for the next 3 years sure.....but if we become a good team and pressed against the cap......that 1.2 could be of use come the deadline.

Or it may not.

But it definitely wouldnt if it wasnt there.
