We are in "who deserves ice time more" mode already in the 3rd game of the pre season.... lolz
- boonerbuck
Well it is a bit annoying to see a recent 1st rounder at 10 minutes or less in his 1st two pre-season games, especially since he's played pretty decently. It's not like these games count. |

Got their asses kicked in faceoffs too
Team: 19-57 33%
Vey: 3-15 20%
Sutter: 6-19 32% - Nucker101
Vey
I remember Benning kept pointing out how Sutter was a stud in the face-off circle when they first traded for him
Lets hope its rust. |

He loses more than he wins at 48% for his career, he's not a FO stud. |

To be fair this has been his best game. If he plays like this regular.y he will make the top 6 |

He was clearly BLINDED by that 21 goals last season.

He needs to get his game going. That's my biggest concern going into the season. It's not that I was sorry to see Bonino go or anything, I'm fine with the trade itself, but then Benning went and locked him up long term before he'd played a single game. For better or worse, he's a core piece going forward and so far he's been invisible at best. |

If Markstrom has a better sv%(and shot quality adjusted sv%) for most of the year then it will be well deserved. - Nucker101
I just laugh when people start using that logic on a small sample size as Markstrom sits through so many disaster games being spared of it. The routine is old... I don't listen to 1040 anymore because of stuff like that. I get my fill here... He'll be the better #1 with only 15 starts... cant wait.

I again will say I wasn't disappointed tonight. I keyed in a couple of players that I wanted to see. Gaunce JV Bartowski and Pedan. They had strong games and so did Shink and Jones.
When you looked at the roster today the outcome was predictable . Steamer even called it 5-1 before the puck was dropped . Markstrom was strong. It was a good preseason game that the Canucks who sent an AHL club to play an NHL club on the road. |

I would not be surprised in the least if Markstrom gets 25-30 games or more - both because Miller's game is on the decline and vice versa but also because Miller is now become injury prone (and it can only get worse given his age and the rigors of travelling and having to play in the Western Conference). |

If they are in the PO race, and Markstrom I putting up better numbers, he might not need an injury to take over the starters job.
It's just hypothetical Thunda, please no death threats. |

I can understand his frustration as that actually also ticked me off. These games mean nothing and you should be ensuring all of the prospects/rookies/camp-invitees get as much of the ice-time as possible. What is the point of giving Shinkaruk only 10 minutes? is that going to be enough of a proper chance to showcase himself?
P.s. only 4 major give-aways by Sbisa tonight - nice to see some improvement |

I think no one had Shink on their radar . They thought he was going down. At the same time they thought Vey was staying. He will probably get a very close look for a longer period in his next game. This is the first time he really showed he wants it badly |

Agreed. He looked hungry tonight. He looked like a guy that wants nothing to do with France.
I will say this though, between Shink, Vey, and Sven, ideally only one of them is on the team. |

Hey Lefty, sorry to hear that. Stay strong. My wife and I went through a rough patch when our son got badly burned in a freak accident. It's amazing how bad times can make you stronger as a family unit. |

Shink is the only exempt from waivers and Benning gave up 2nd rounders for both of the others so I'd be shocked if they waived even one of the other two for him. |

Yep and Shink made a bold statement tonight. Luckily he has a few more games to showcase, but he is the one that looks farther ahead in development |

Damn. Sorry to hear that man. I'm glad you were able to come through the other side scarred but still whole. They say scar tissue is twice as strong. . . |

Benning has backed himself into a bit of a smallish skilled non physical corner. Kind of ironic for a guy who people assume favours a more rough and tumble roster.
Something has to give though. They don't all play the same position, but they are similar players. If they're not providing offence, they're not providing much else. |

I've already said that I didn't hate Vey's game tonight. And Shink looked really good. Sven's the guy that has me scratching my head. He's been a ghost. |
