Benning has backed himself into a bit of a smallish skilled non physical corner. Kind of ironic for a guy who people assume favours a more rough and tumble roster.
Something has to give though. They don't all play the same position, but they are similar players. If they're not providing offence, they're not providing much else. - CubanBuffet
The bigger physical guys seem to be progressing smoothly. It is the small undersized skill guys that are struggling.
I can see one of them making it , not all three |

I've already said that I didn't hate Vey's game tonight. And Shink looked really good. Sven's the guy that has me scratching my head. He's been a ghost. - CubanBuffet
He is the one that should be the 13 th forward until he proves himself |

It'll likely be Vey and Sven to start, but who knows if they both, or either, stick. |

Yup. And ironically, he's the one that will likely be gifted top six minutes. |

I don't see it that way. Vey played two more minutes tonight. I think Sven needs to impress very soon or his NHL career is over |

Shink is the only exempt from waivers and Benning gave up 2nd rounders for both of the others so I'd be shocked if they waived even one of the other two for him. - Nucker101
I really hope Shink gets sent down and I like him the most of the 3 cus at least he battles. Another year or half year wont kill him. I just dont want one of the others to get picked up on waivers. If they are to move someone hopefully they show case them to up there value. Like putting Vey on PP with sedins or something. |

I actually expected Sven to light up this year. Maybe he still will. I wana see him on a line with Horvat and Vrbata that should be a good indicator of what he can do. |

We'll see. Vey played more minutes, but not with top liners. It's tough to get a read this early into the preseason at the best of times, let alone when the head coach is sidelined recovering from hip surgery. |

I dont I just want to get something if anything back in return for them. Giving up two 2nd rounders sucks to just get nothing for them. I think Sven will turn it around its just a couple pre-season games wait until the season is a month or so in before we rush to judgement. |

Plus Calgary iced a team that will start the season were we only dressed a handful of guys who will make our team. |

Cause ineffective today doesn't necessarily mean ineffective tomorrow. Especially when you've paid a relatively steep price to acquire them. |

I really dont like Veys game at all. Hes basically a Mason Raymond style. If your going to play soft you best be racking up points. |

After this, I'm done saying it, but I liked Vey's game tonight. That said, he's no Mason Raymond. Raymond was actually really underrated defensively. And I say that knowing full well what kind of player Raymond was. I should, playing the Raymond drinking game almost put me in the hospital more than once. |

Linden Vey is straight up garbage.
How long till our impotent GM gives away another 2nd rounder for someone else's garbage?
Man this is going to be a long season. - classic321

This could be very accurate. Nothing really about him has stood out as of yet. Gaunce has impressed as has Shink and Bartkowski...and a bit of Virtanen. Corrado looks to be struggling a bit and is looking like he still needs to work on his core strength. Hasn't been alot of wow factor as of yet. See what tonight's game brings. |

Corrado is another one that is struggling. I would send him back . He so far is just another Clendenning type or a tweener. I don't see him as an impact player . He looks like the the type so far that you send out to fill in minutes and hope he doesn't get burned.
Pedan is the only one stong enough to box out forwards from the front of the net. He is the only one that can fight. He is the only one so far to lay out big hits. He has a decent break out pass and a decent shot.I think him and Bartowski would make a very good third pairing.
JV has been one of the better prospects. He has scored in prospect camp and he scored last night. He has a very good shot and speed, He also hits.
He was in the top 5 Canucks last night. |

Agree Pedan has showed some promise and overall has looked better than Corrado. I still think Corrado is a better option (or Pedan) than Bieksa for now but it's clear his (Corrado) game still needs work. |
