This is good. Have to disagree about Crawford though, he is expendable for that team in terms of who they need to lock up. Hossa I think ought to be the odd man out after him. Everyone concerned about how they can make this work, but the cap will go up and Chicago will continue to develop and trade for young guys. The rest of the league still hasn't caught up to Bowman and aren't prepared to make moves like with Saad or letting Niemi/Bolland walk.

They just waived 2 young players they acquired in the Saad trade.
You can never count out the Bowman's, but they won't get 135 draft picks
again, when all other teams had around 90.
And as we all know, Top Heavy doesn't work.
Unless they trade Kane, of course.

Those 2 players were simply contracts Jarmo needed off the books to help pay Saad because he is on a budget in CBJ. Stan took them to make the deal happen because the Hawks can afford the hits. Very few seriously considered Tropp or Morin as likely roster candidates.

Top heavy can certainly work if you continue to fill out the bottom with cost controlled quality. Panarin, Teuvo, Dano and Darling fit that bill. TVR and Daley to a lesser extent. This Seabrook deal will probably cost a core piece but the guys has been relatively injury free and a very high character player. I thought this deal might be closer or lower than Giordano's but it looks good for the next 3-5 years and that is probably the remaining window for this group.

No, there's plenty to do here. What is it people do anywhere that can't be done in Edmonton?

Never but that narrows it down to a handful of coastal cities, the rest of the NHL though? The average guy works all week, goes for beers with his buddies, takes his lady for dinner, maybe checks out a band or a sporting event, goes to the farmers market, shops for new ball cap etc....doesn't matter if you're in Montreal, Chicago, or Edmonton, you can do the same poop everywhere, and chances are you do.

Most people would describe me as ' kind', so there is no need to be surprised.
