In your opinion...
Where should I start in the "new team" core of guys jersey collection??
I have the old guys still being Miller, Pommer, Myers, and Kaleta.
The first one I'm goign to get is Girgensons but I can't even decide between blue or white for it. I like the white because it feels more "classic" but i don't know if it is weird not having their home jersey.
ROR, Kane, and then maybe Risto will be next down the line. |

Our d-core is Very suspect at this point. If Bogo and/or gorges cannot stay healthy this year we are in trouble. That makes me worry about risto having too much responsibility too early. That is what happened with Myers and it didnt turn out well. - MCGUIZZY
A few months ago, all of you guys were saying that Gorges was barely a 3rd pairing guy and all washed up... and now he is a part of our "core" and we badly need him.
You guys are a real piece of work around here sometimes. |

How many teams have a great 1 - 6? We will be just fine. If nothing else not having the entire game in our end will make our D infinitely better than it was last season. No reason to stress. |

Having Pysyk, McCabe, Franson, and Risto above Weber/Donovan/Colia is still not the worst in the NHL or division for that matter for a few games. |

Rangers are pretty close to that, probably the most sound 1-6 dmen in the league.
Edit: Preds are pretty stacked too on all pairings |

I dont know? But if you think there is no reason to stress about this defense than maybe you are being naive. Risto is still only 20 |

Mccabe is a rookie #1, Risto is 20 years old (and will be forced into a #1 role), donovan is garbage, Weber is weber, Coliacavo has Never played an 82 game season |

I don't think there is any reason to stress either... every team has guys injured from time to time... playing all 82 games is becoming more rare.
Bogo, Franson, Gorges, Risto, Pysyk, McCabe, Carlo, Weber, Donovan, and Ruhwedel... I'm pretty confident in our depth to fill in for periods of time. |

McCabe is a rookie with 9 games of experience and only a -3 rating on two teams that finished dead last in points. He had 29 pts in 57 games in Rochester too. I consider him pretty blue chip and ready to step up and fill in when needed. Not saying he is an every night, top 2 pairing type guy at this point. |

The Hawks have Keith, Seabrook, and Hjalmarsson.... everyone else is interchangable. poop.. in the playoffs they only rolled 4 guys and Oduya/Rosizval shared the duties as the #4. Sure no other team has a top 3 like them but still.
Point being.. having a great 1-6 is not as important as people think. Playing right, playing smart, playing together, and just being hot at the right time is how championships are won in this league. |

My original point was that without the insulation of Gorges and Bogo (who continues to have injury concerns) we are forcing a 20 year old Risto into a #1 role. I worry about this from a development perspective. |

I'm with you. But he did it last year pretty well. He lead the DMen in points and TOI for the whole season.
I think that as long as it is in the "week to week" mentality and not "you are hte top pairing guy all season". I think it is good for him to face the competition. Franson and Pysyk could even be the top pairing for the time being to keep Risto a little sheltered on 2nd. |

Does anyone know when teams have to be under the cap? Is it by opening night?
Wondering when GMTM is going to snag somebody due to cap hits. |

I agree. As I pointed on in the other post.... lead all DMen in points, +/-, and TOI last season. (I believe so about +/- but the others i'm positive on) |
