A few years ago, I was playing in the Adult Safe Hockey League, and at the end of the game a scuffle broke out. Referee grabbed the guy (from the other team - not mine) and tried to just muscle him out. The guy took offense and threw a punch at the ref. The ref then proceeded to pummel the guy - sorta pinned him up against the bench and did his best eggbeater imitation on him.

We were pissing ourselves laughing in the dressing room afterwards.

We assumed that the guy was going to get a lifetime ban for hitting a ref, but the convenor told us they ended up not suspending him at all - they were worried he would sue the league, so they felt it was best to do nothing and hope it all went away.

But man oh man, did the ref ever pummel him!
