Went to the game tonight and was thinking the same thing. Can't wait to see the real roster because it was bad hockey tonight.

Took my 8 year old and he asked "what's wrong with the players?"

It would be mind blowing to see Gaunce JVMcCann Hutton and Gaunce make the club . Send down Vey Kenins and a D

Gaunce is a definite, I think he'll still be up as the 13th forward when Higgins comes back from injury. JV gets 9 games spaced out like Horvat then goes to the World Juniors and then to Utica for a 'conditioning stint' then possibly stays. McCann gets the same. Hutton is the first call-up and will probably stay up since I see Corrado/Weber being vastly outplayed by him.

I don't know how to respond without getting into a big debate so I will try to keep it simple.

I think Gaunce JV McCann are better players than Kenins and Vey

I think Hutton is better than Weber and Corrado

JV looks like he still needs to work on a few things to me, the size/speed/shot is NHL-ready but his mind isn't. If they think he can develop that better in the NHL rather than the WHL then keep him. I'd like to see how he looks in games when everyone is going at 100% though and with linemates that suit his style more(speed).

Agree on the rest. I still like Kenins but he didn't earn a spot.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say JV does not make this team. And I hope to God that Vey does not.

JV will get at least 1 regular season game IMO, I think Benning will push WD for that.

I agree, but again, injuries + cap + waivers needs to be taken into account. I think JB will game the system like he did with Horvat to keep as many of the waiver ineligable players like JV, McCann and Hutton up while playing Kenins, Vey, Weber and Corrado and work on getting them traded to open up the spots. It's not going to happen at the start of the season, so using the Horvat route takes the pressure off the rookies and at the same time gives JB a chance to work the phones and not look desperate.

Horvat had a legit injury though, and missed a decent chunk of practice time, and some games as well.

Kenins Vey and Weber are all 1 year <1 mill contracts. Like Nucker said if they get picked up off waivers hope it is a Pacific division team that does it.

Not trying to start something but Sutter and Sbisa are (frank)ing terrible. Brutal.

That would be too bad. He'll be taking a spot away from a player who deserves it more.

Preaching to the choir bud

Sutter is still a decent bottom 6 player, but yeah those contracts boggle my mind.

Legit? Maybe, or maybe it was convenient. I'm just saying, the timing was curious and even if he was legit injured, JB took advantage of the loophole.
