The biggest sign that the flyers are tanking this season is if vinny is in the lineup game 1. Get your popcorn ready

Don't think Mason will allow you to tank. He has really turned his career around since Philadelphia wisely acquired him.

MacDonald is the only player I'd be willing to include a draft pick & retain Salary to not have on this team.

I'm just not there -- we all know that the Rags are a notch above where the Flyers are now, assuming both rosters are healthy

But I still.believe the Flyers have.enough to be around the 7-10 slot, and should be all.season

They just have.to choose optimal lineups from Game 1 on, and those do not include Wheels at any point

Agreed, same dilemma as NJ but the Flyers actually have some talented top 6 players, once those defensive prospects catch up watch out

No, he's not. MacDonald is to some Flyers fans as Girardi is to James Tanner.

Flyers will be a pain to play against this season and, like you stated, once some of their defensive prospects join the big club this team will be strong.

It would be foolish of them to overspend on trying to acquire a Byfuglien type now. They are in the middle of the road and one player, costing them future, won't help matters.

Their current top three forwards are all in their mid-20s and Mason is a 20-something as well so there is no need to expedite the process.

The goal has to be the playoffs. Maybe at the end of the day they don't have the horses, but the players on this roster have to produce in line with their abilities, if not the expectations of the coaches and management

Two top 10 scorers in their prime, a.Top 10 goalie in his prime, an elite PP and what has traditionally been an.above-average PK means you have to think you can make the playoffs

I think it really depends on how much we can get lines 2 - 4 to produce in 5 v 5 play. And right now that's a huge question mark.

Lots of players lack experience in playing 3 on 3 hockey. Expect to see more of that, even from veterans in the future.
- MJL

But of all the Flyers players last night, Laughton should have been the most familiar with the nuances of 3-on-3. He already played it numerous times last year with the Phantoms.

I think they have played pretty good....was hoping for a few young guys to start year with big team, but in willing to wait a little longer.

Yep, but the caliber of competition is much higher in the NHL 3 on 3. So I'll give the kid some slack.
