i think it's been answered already. even the great coaches are only as good as the players they coach. Scotty Bowman proved that many years ago. Give him a team with 4-5 HOFers? he'll win you championships. give him the Buffalo Sabres? maybe you'll make the playoffs and win a round.

It's going to be a poop-storm of opinions that's for sure. The team is going to be bad and that's pretty much a foregone conclusion. Is losing games by 1 or 2 consistently considered a measure of success in terms of keeping a terrible team in games or is it just a loss is a loss is a loss?

I think the trolls will be disappointed this year. There will be lots of material for them but Leaf fans will be so dead inside that there will be no gratification in throwing out a bunch of "1967 LAWLZ"'s.

i think the questions should have nothing to do with sports.. poop like.. "whats your favorite beer?"

"do you like mushrooms on pizza?" "whats your favorite pop band hit from 1972?"

Today's NHL is very different than it was in Bowman's days.

Systems pretty much all look the same, goaltenders are huge difference makers as well. A team with a decent goalie and a good defensive system can make the playoffs.

And very good teams such as the LA kings of last season, can miss the playoffs.

As I said, I think it'll be interesting to see if Babcock can get significantly get more out of this group than previous coaches.

no, that was the point. it's not Mike Babcock's three preseason games that answered the question. it's decades and decades of NHL hockey. even the greatest coaches need great players to win.

Joel Quenneville today is seen as one of if not the best hockey coach in the world. how many playoff series did he win in Colorado and St. Louis?
