this is just an example, so before some of you react...IF someone like Kapanen, Nylander, or even Marner had the BEST camp, and proved it every game, and even had a better camp than some others that didn't and STILL didn't make the team, I think I'd be upset too. See that kid from Boston. Proved everything in the AHL & still doesn't get a chance.
I'm not saying the Leafs should rush these players. I want a proper rebuild..but if these players ARE READY, then why not actually play them? Again, not saying all 3 have had PERFECT camps, but just stating a point here.
Everyone claimed they knew everything in the world and said Clarkson would never get traded...that Babcock would never come to Toronto..but those people are just FANS. They don't know how to run a pro team, etc. Not saying I do, and I to am a fan, but I realized, in this sport, and sports in general, anything can happen, and to never say never. - MCharisma91
I think the emphasis is on developing those Marlies TOGETHER regardless of individual readiness. Building chemistry and structure between players. That is my guess anyways.

Your not only missing Kessel's goals, but you're also missing his brain dead give- aways that resulted in a lot of goals against.... what is the net impact? |

My main issue with having any youngsters on this team is that there is no leadership whatsoever on the big club. Eventually there will be, but at the moment no. It's a lot easier to play on a line with Toews or Datsyuk or Bergeron than it is with Kadri/JVR/Bozak. Keep them all away until the system is in place where they can succeed |

definitely, which is why earlier I was upset about the coaching staff not putting Brown with Nylander together from the get go (and at least Kapanen) , so from something sort of what Tampa Bay did with Palat, Johnson, and Kucherov.. I really hope they do so with the Marlies. |

meh, every year 1 or 2 teams that are supposedly in a rebuild or coming off crummy years make the playoffs...Sens/Habs/Flames etc.
I don't think we will...so that probably means they do. - Garnie
Flames do look good, that's a fact. Ottawa and Montreal are stuck in no man's land. Never gonna win a cup in the forseable future (and Montreal have the best goalie in the league) |

of course. I get what you're saying & I get what you mean .. but I think the only person that can really make that decision if a player is ready or not, is the player. Rielly made his case a couple years ago & made the team. How can a team say no to a player(s) that has proved everything you wanted and had a great camp. It's really hard. And that goes for any player, not just the Leafs young guns. |

They have a coach who's not afraid to bench their best players
Leafs didn't.
They would still be vying for a playoff spot I believe. |

For sure it's a hard decision. I'd imagine Mike would love 6 Nylanders, but I think the best thing for the organization is keep them all away this year. It's hard for the player and could go either way. I hope it turns out like Tyler Johnson. Destroyed the AHL, had a good camp, got sent down and told to do it all over again, then made the Lightning and was part of arguably the most dangerous line in the NHL last season |

JVR/Bozak/Kessel? I know it seems laughable...but they had a couple real good streaks going IMO
So did Kuleman/84/MacArthur |

Absolutely. But we've suffered for so long, I think we owe it to ourselves to actually try this thing properly and not sign Komi, Francois and trade away Seguin and Hamilton, all so we could see a player score some goals when he felt like it |

Yeah the top line was dangerous for sure. But always being -25 at the end of the year pisses me off. Tyler Johnson has been +23 and +33 respectively |

I think the last few seasons (and the off-season hires) have proven that letting in fewer goals will be the key to success.
But do we really want this team to succeed this year? Another high pick would probably be better than a first round exit. |

Exactly. Imagine adding Matthews or Chychrun to the team vs a 5 (being generous) game series against T.B. it's not like we don't endure this every year. The only difference will be not starting 15-5 for the year. The rest will exactly mimic what we are all used to |
