Where is the Lehner fan club? Had no problem bashing him today. I just think he needs time TM the GM knows him better than everyone here put together. I will put my faith in him on this one as well!

I gotta say, seeing him get a shutout tonight was entertaining for me. He had a pretty easy first 2 periods, but Toronto had a lot of nice chances in the 3rd.

Overall, he looked more comfortable back there tonight.

Houston's in the AL now??

Yes. Someone at MLB finally figured out how to count and realized they had a 6-team division in the NL and a 4-team division in the AL.

Hopefully that person talks to someone in the NHL soon.

Yeah, it's better than just using the links because now I don't have to fight with the ads. It's pretty awesome. I believe it was Slump Buster that recommended it.

Yep was him. Didn't put it on my putor yet . I had the game in HD with the link i posted from TSN.

No time but will get it .

I don't recall anyone bashing Lehner ...,they bashed the value GMTM paid for him...some did, others defended it on a wait and let's see basis.

From what I watched, he didn't have many tough saves. He was beaten but Nylander 1 on 1, but got lucky Nylander couldn't hit an empty net. He made some saves as well. Rather pedestrian performance...which I'll take for now to help his confidence.
But I wouldn't organize a parade just yet...like Tryrod...let's see some more..so far so good...now deliver consistently.

No old BHH was bashing away . No one is organizing a parade . Just saying be patient . He has not played since February . He won a championship in Binghamton . TM the GM knows what he wanted . Must have reasons. He gets paid to be the GM . Let him do his job.

This team is still terrible, Murray destroyed the rebuild! Sabres d men are fragile and dropping like flies. An undrafted college ufa is our best player. Same old sabres, what a joke.

Anyone know how Hodgson is doing for Nashville? Was going to go ask the Preds board but then I realized there isn't one. Lol

I didn't realize Eichel was an undrafted college FA.

We Buffalo fans should know better than most not to say "I told you so" in the preseason, positive or negative. Those who refuse to learn history are doomed to repeat it...or something like that.

It was nice to see Lehner get a shutout tonight. Preseason or not. They don't happen all the frequently, so when they do, it's nice. Let's hope he can take this game and build up his confidence.

I must say, that for the majority of this game, he looked much more comfortable back there than he did in his first 2 outings. Even if he hadn't gotten a shutout, it would have been a good game for him.

The first 2 periods weren't all that challenging, but the Leafs definitely had quite a few really good quality chances in the 3rd and he hung in there and got the job done. I don't need him to be spectacular every night. I just need him to get the job done, like today. Period.

It's good on him that he got a shutout tonight. I'm not taking that away from him. The criticism for the trade is still warranted, as is optimism for its success. I said earlier I wasn't too worried about him yet, and I still wouldn't have been had he got lit up for 4 or 5 goals tonight.

Skunk adds another point: 1.33ppg for the preseason often playing with ("other") borderline NHLers. I'd like to see what he can do with some top end skill guys.

The problem we have right now, is that in order to insulate Eichel, it essentially pushes Reinhart down the lineup further. It sucks, but at the same time, it's a good problem to have I guess. I don't expect the line combos at the onset of the season to be anywhere near the same at the end.

I do too. He seems to have played more than well enough to stay. If he gets sent down as part of a numbers game, it's a sign this team hasn't learned it's lesson yet.

It's far too early to make any kind of determination of anything Murray did trade wise this year. Most of the guys haven't even played a regular season game in a Sabres uniform yet.

I understand. My belief is Eichel doesn't need to be insulated, and we can get more from Samson playing with those who better compliment his playmaking capabilities.

Here's an interesting scenario....

Do you send him down to let him get top line minutes in Rochester for the first say, 20ish games of the year

OR

Do you keep him here on the 3rd line with guys like Gionta and McGinn playing about 12 minutes a night with special teams time

Which is better for his overall development?

It doesn't hurt to do it for a few weeks though and really let him acclimate himself. He is only 18 years old. He's going to have times throughout the year that he struggles.

Im starting to buy more into this as well but they may want to limit the amount defensive work he has to do early in the year.

Dan Bylsma said the #Sabres need another D. Recall coming? Signing?

I think Gerbe's waiver idea is the way to go. Sabres have first dibs so if say the habs do end up putting tinordi on waivers it might be a good idea.
