Nylander has been better than every player on the team aside from Kadri's one game vs Ottawa. He was better than Eichel last night too IMO. The ONLY reason he wont make the team is because they want him to have a winning year on the Marlies which should further his development. Otherwise he could of been in the NHL last year if on another team.

Nylander by himself is better than Eichel.
Easy 'no' from the Maple Leafs.

Is that why Eichel scored a SHG and Nylander missed a wide open net? |

I'd like to think that we could make a fair evaluation of our players. Maybe they haven't watched him like we did for the last several months. |

TSN was absolutely gushing over Eichel yesterday. If Nylander was the better player, then that's the name you would have kept hearing. |

I like Nylander, I think he can be good. That being said, he's not Jack Eichel. |

I can relate to a lot of what they are thinking. I remember the really bad years where we clung to the hope that some kids might bring in a few years. I think Nylander is going to be a great player - he was easily their best player last night. |

He was definitely good. He'll have a good career, especially if they can get some other quality players in there around him. But I never once was delusional enough to say that any of our players were better than a guy like Crosby at any point, and that's pretty close to what they did. It's just silly. |

Definitely. Would we make that trade if it was Reinhart instead? I would have to say yes.

Which trade though? Nylander for Reinhart straight up? Or the Nylander & Marner one?
Because I don't see how it would make sense to trade the #2 pick in last years draft for the #8 pick right now.
That's not to say that for whatever reasons years down the road Nylander couldn't have the better career, but as of right now, there's a reason Reinhart went 6 spots earlier in what is considered to be a weak draft. |

Even in a weak draft, ya can't rule out Sam was still #2 |

Right. And that's my point. I wouldn't trade him for Nylander straight up because Nylander was the 8th pick in that same draft. Neither has done anything at the NHL level yet, so there's really not much to compare them with differently than before they got drafted. |

Say Reinhart ++ (Baptiste or comparable) for Marner and Nylander. |

Leaf fans are so delusional that they think their 1982 11th round pick is still worth more than Eichel, Reinhart, and Risto combined. |

Nylander looked very solid last night matched against evan rodriquez on the wing. Even though evan scored twice nylander read and played the breakout much better than evan defended it. |

Eh. I'm not a fan of it. I'd rather keep Reinhart and thought Baptiste wasn't a high pick, I kinda want to wait and see how the continues to develop. |

I'd have to think long and hard on that one.
Marinar just intrques me....he reminds me of Ennis, fast and skilled.
Nylander looked good last night but didn't finish on about 3 very good chances...assuming he had a bad night for that.
The kid got chances though and that is half of it.
I'd rather see those two with Reinhart between them |

We never have to be this kind of fan base again.
Leafs fan: "I wouldn't trade Nylander+Marner for Eichel.".......delusional
There is nothing in the Leafs entire organization I would trade Eichel for. - Punch70
My favorite is the Leafs fan who calls Nylander a "proven stud" while wondering why the (frank) Buffalo wouldn't want the duo |
