The fact that he had to even address the team validates booners argument. Obviously not preferred by management but clearly its been acknowledged..... - chompsey
I see perhaps I misunderstood the comment, wasn't the point that Hutton was outplaying the fringe Vets a reason he deserves to stay?

No, I'd rather have Hamhuis/Tanev thank you very much...... - chompsey
They can't play the entire final 5 minutes. |

You don't think WD expects his fringe Vets to be going at 100%?

Sometimes a speech for a group is directed at a few.
Waiting to see if either McCann or JV get injured and they try to stretch out the 9 games like last season or if that would be pressing their luck. - hillbillydeluxe

I didnt say that. Coaches always expect the most... and that quote is what I'm talking about... the coaches acknowledged the players are not playing 100% with that request. Thank you for supporting what I said.

Well if the head coach is urging them to go all out then clearly their jobs are actually on the line and maybe Hutton is playing for a roster spot...or maybe WD is full of poop. |

What's your suggestion? Just curious. - Nucker101
I like a third line of higgins, horvat, hansen.
The second line is a problem. I don't like any combination of current canuck players for the second line. Different GM same poop second line. It's Sven on the second line that bothers me so much. Guy is completely unproven and surprisingly has shown very little this preseason. We all talk about earning your spot but Sven certainly hasn't.
JB went out and got what he thought was a second line centreman in Sutter. I think they roll with that. His wingers will probably be Higgins (when healthy) and Vrbata.
So to answer your question... I don't got an answer for you. But that doesn't mean I got to like a second line of Sven, Bo, Radam. |

See above. WD has said on more than one occasion that the rookies are putting some of the vets job on the line. It's clear that Hutton has a legit chance to stay. |

I'm still confused then, it sounded like you were refuting that Hutton outperforming Vets was valid.
Isn't that a point in his favor? |

Exactly! I'm not dumping on you or your choice. We just don't have the horses in the organization to properly construct a team with four good lines. Hell, we can hardly construct one good line... |

But the fringe veterans who either have been outplayed or don't give a poop despite the urging of their coach on more than one occasion clearly will win their spots on the team. |

Why the hell wouldn't a guy who doesn't have a spot locked up in the top 12F or top 6D not go 100%
And what was so radical about my proposed lineup? - Nucker101
Its not a simple question to answer nucker. It just the way vets and entitled people play in the pre season...
I don't know why you keep insisting it is the other way round... coaches are trying to kick the vets in the ass to play hard... they want a definitive answer to who is going to be the better decision... it doesnt make it easy on them thats for sure. |

So _____, Horvat Vrbata?
Or Bo doesn't belong there either?
I'm with you though, JB selling Sutter as 2lc when he seems more of a 3lc starting in his own end, off the rush than a possession player. It could be because he is still getting used to the systems, but looks lost some times in the ozone. |

If a vet who doesn't even have a opening night spot locked up is too entitled to try in the pre-season then why is he here? And do we want him around our young guys? |

For the record I still think Hutton shouldn't stay up at the expense of potentially losing Corrado.....but I can understand that it is far from a sure thing he gets picked up via waivers at this time of year.
I'm hoping for a minor injury to Sbisa that allows the mgmt to see what this teams looks like without him. |

Ok, my lineup.....
Forwards:
Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Baertschi- Horvat- Vrbata
Prust- Sutter- Hansen
Gaunce- McCann- Dorsett
Extras:
Vey, Virtanen
IR:
Higgins
Defense:
Hamhuis/Tanev
Edler/Corrado
Sbisa/Weber
Extras:
Bart
Goalies:
Miller
Markstrom
When Higgins comes back, you send Virtanen back.....thats my thoughts....
After watching McCann a few games, he has definitely shown he can play with the big boys offensively and defensesively despite his size.... - chompsey
Ok here line up
Sedins/ Vrabata
Baertchi/sutter/burrows
Gaunce/horvat/hansen
Prust/mccann/dorset
D:
Edler/tanev
Hamhuis/sbisca
Bartowski/webber
Extra: hutton/ virtanen
Give 10 games to mccann/virtanen and hutton and make a decision after they play their 10 games
I don't want to give horvat 2c might be too much responsability and dliw down his devellopement. Vrabata on first pp unit and first line to increase value.
I know second line is horrible. |
