I just don't subscribe to the thinking that a player can't develop in the NHL or develops better in the AHL. Trust me, I have no hope for this year and would love to see a tank. I feel like giving the jobs to the guys who earned it most is healthy for the entire organization moving forward. - Nucker101
Nobody is saying you can't develop in the NHL... you made that up. We are talking about other factors. You ignore that though...
...you would base that on a first look and move players?
I wonder how many times we can look back and laugh at what would have happened over and over of we and other teams made that a policy. Remember how many of us really really wanted Hodgson to make the team out of his first camp? He was close to making it if we can believe Gillis. He should have made it we think...
There has been a long list of players in that twenty something range who would have displaced NHL players over the years. The list is long of how many of them are nowhere on the NHL radar as well.
I'm surprised at how black and white you reduce everything to. I want the rational nucker back... the one who could change my opinion on something with rationality(you've done that) rather than just plugging your ears and dodging anything that deserves consideration.
That was the consensus among people who watched them almost every game. - Nucker101
Sven was excellent once he came over and in no way am I projecting that Gaunce is a better prospect or deserves that 2LW position
but I think it is important to note that....
Gaunce played most his minutes with Carter Banks and Wacey Hamilton which was essentially the 4th line. Gaunce did get some PP time as well.
During playoffs it was often this line during the final minutes when closing out a game.
Baertschi played primarily with Grenier and O'Reilly and they were the only line with consistent offense.
Bae scored 15 in 21 PO and 40 in 51 regular season (15 in 15 for utica)
Gaunce 9 in 21 in PO and 29 in 74 regular.
Bae is a much more developed and talented offensive player but I'm not sure he is more NHL ready necessarily. Gaunce's more well rounded game might be a factor if it ever comes down to one or the other.

Gaunce was a healthy scratch a couple times in playoffs
Not at this point, if you don't expect to contend for the Cup until a few years after the Sedins retire when the new core is assembled and reaches it's prime then these 'minor things' don't matter. I'm ok with this, by the time we get good again, the dollar should be relatively close to par with the US and the cap should be around 85-90 million and we'll be fine with cap space. - DariusKnight[/quote]
I'd replace "should" with "might", otherwise that's a pretty shltty way to run a hockey team - hoping factors outside of your control work out in your favour. If the dollar rebounds and cap continues to climb great, although any increase to the cap will likely be negated by an increase to the average value of contracts, but if it doesn't you're hooped.
He played OK but did nothing noticeable with the Sedins(who didn't really look motivated). Couple of bad turnovers probably had WD shaking his head though.
