He's only trade-able for another bad contract in return. People who refuse to believe that don't realize how bad he is and the many better options other teams have to use that 3.6M on instead of him.

Why trade Miller? He has one year left after this season. Its nothing toward the future of this club. Markstrom will get playing time. Miller will be solid. Throwing Miller in the same ilk as Sbisa is ridiculous.

Yeah, I get why he dwelt him but to give away a later pick and get an older/more expensive player on top of it.

Miller handles it just fine. He's a professional. We are hard on our goalies yes but its the NHL you have to be ready for the limelight in any of the Canadian cities.

I will never understand why Benning has to add picks into deals. Otherwise I don't hate the trades.

-- We should have been receiving the 5th round pick in that deal for Kassian, not giving it away

I didn't say we had to trade him, but some here have suggested that he can/will be moved for a draft pick. Maybe during his final year if the Canucks retain 50% at the TDL, but other than that I don't see it.

Hopefully one of Markstrom or Demko is the real deal for the future.

The Garrison trade was a great move
They traded Bieksa
Vey is not looking good, but he was worth the gamble
If they trade Sbisa, or if he improves, the deal will be good
Dorsett might make too much money, but that is basically said about every player when they sign

Sbisa was more on Desjardins than Benning. I don't think that anything that came back in the Kesler trade should be used to judge Benning as a talent evaluator, apart from what he did with the pick (which is looking pretty good right now).

I can understand how some people think that trading Garrison was necessary but I have no idea how you can call it a great move. Ignoring what he did with the 2nd round pick, he got bad value for a very effective player and still ended including a draft pick in the deal.

Unless you think Desjardin was the one who targeted Sbisa a as a "top 4 D" then that has to be on Benning as well, the decision to resign him before playoffs and after a brutal season is likely on the whole mgmt group but Benning ultimately is the one who is responsible.

Benning also called Bonino a fundamental piece, top 6 C etc. and said he was key to the Kesler trade.... If Bonino didn't work out here and expected him to be a part of this team long term then that is an example of his player evaluation.

I'm fully on board with giving Benning time for his moves to show their true colors but suggesting that the players he has brought in, signed, resigned are not fair to judge him on is strange.... what else would you judge him on?

You need every little advantage you can get in this league, but Benning has shown less concern with the minor details like overpaying in trades/contracts to get them done quicker. It'll come back to bite him unless Aquilini is cool with missing the playoffs the next 3 years.

I was actually not too pissed about Lack either. But I do think he has the potential to be a top 20 starter. He's definitely not Schneider 2.0.

Miller signing still doesn't make sense to me. Even if they wanted a vet starter, he could have signed him to a 2 year deal or less $$ if he wanted 3 years which would have made him more valuable in the trade market if Benning wanted to explore that option in the future depending on the two Swedes development.

Both are trade-able at the right point of the year and you won't have to take a bad contract in return. Might not get much value in return, but moveable.

Umm wanting a tank and predicting one are two very different things. Last year, I said countless times that I predict a bounce back season. Had them in the 7-10 range in the West, they ended up winning more 1 goal games and OT/SO games than I thought(which can vary year to year in this league) and finished higher but in the playoffs they did end up looking like a 7-10 place team.
