You can still be a fan while questioning some moves and hoping you're proven wrong.

If I question the Canadian government, doesn't mean I hate my country.

It started with Subban not getting into preseason games and someone mentioned that it wasn't fair and would send him a message that even though he looked like one of the best prospects in Penticton he wasn't rewarded with a game or two.

Now of course any mention of a player being sent down we all worry if their feeling will be hurt.

Did you get that?

I just gathered up and gave my kb, mouse and monitor a big hug.

Faith in humanity restored, just have to get to know the Green Party candidate in my area... if there is one.

I agree completely and I don't doubt that Benning tried his best to get his best return. If he says he targeted Bonino and Sbisa for top 6 and top 4 roles then I believe him.

What I don't know and I don't think you know either was whether Kesler said no to deals from Pit or Chi or if Benning said no or if those GM's said no.

Benning was still over a barrel but from what I remember it was 3 team barrel not a 1 team barrel that is often mentioned in defense of the trade.

Ok, if you want to take a GM for his word when he talks to the media, you have to play it both ways. Just remember that when you are picking him apart.

I definitely think he deserves some blame for trying this "try to get into 8th place while rebuilding" strategy.

But I think the man he hired can do a better job of trying to execute it. Last year worked out well, but I think Torts leaving had a lot to do with the bounceback, the year before Torts was hired this team had basically the same amount of points as they did this past season.

I think you're an idiot if you believe even half the sh!t that spews out of any GM or Presidents mouth when they talk to the media.

Not you specifically.

Linden is definitely full of poop and sounds like a used car salesmen at times(I don't blame him, that's his job), but I think Benning does drop some truth at times.

Half truths. He plays like he's a little slow but I think he is far from it.

I'm still pretty excited about Jake too but he is trying to hard to make plays and its hurting him at times. He needs to go down for a bit after a few games of regular season.

Your boy Benning started it
- Nucker101

Yes, Benning is the GM of my team. Go ahead, call him my boy... he is until I think I have given him enough time for his collection of moves shows good sign of where this team is going instead of jumping ship over a short contract.

I know you've stopped patting Gillis on the back for his contracts and trades because it was coming back on you. It's all still in the archive though... and your blind rage on the new GM before his first season was out of the way speaks volumes on your loyalties... so he's still "your boy" regardless of how quiet you have been about supporting him lately.

You had no rage even when Gillis was clearly destroying this team in the end... but it only took resigning Sbisa for you to jump at your opportunity to go all out attack on the new GM. I'm not fooled...

I'm pretty sure that's just the way he talks. It's not an act, and I'd argue that being well-spoken would actually help him.

Trying to rekindle that line with Shinkaruk.

They had one of the most dominant lines in Junior for Medicine Hat Tigers.

Many of us here have not jumped on him yet its still too early. I like a lot of JB's moves and others I don't really like. Gillis on the other hand had some solid moves and others that were clearly to hurt the team in the end.

Gillis' contracts were all seen as good value when he signed them. It's his trades and weird drafting strategy of overagers that (frank)ed him over.

Benning has handed out full or limited NTC's to Sutter/Miller/Vrbata/Tanev and Sbisa might as well have one so it's not like he's doing a whole lot better in that area.

Gillis was a flat out better negotiator, and I've said about 828298291290 times that I think he started off very well and lost his ways after the SCF. You twist my words into saying "LOLZ OMG NUCKER THINKS GILLIS IS HIS GOD ROLF"

So when they say "open competition" what they really mean is "open competition for waiver eligible players only"

If a young kid looks ready, I say give him the spot. It'll be a big confidence boost, plus he's learning from NHL vets, and it shows the veterans and prospects in your organization that a rookie can earn a spot from a waiver eligible player making for a more competitive internal environment. It wouldn't be the end of the world if they kepet him up either, especially with WD as coach since he rolls all 4 lines and 3 D pairings. The only issue is that Hutton is a LHD.

First season hockey fan?

Every season the GM's and coaches say the same thing... every season the same fans are crying about the GM and coach not being true(or literal) to his word. ..and then there is the fan like you... who is only at issue with it if the GM's name is Benning.

Same poop happened under MG and AV... over and over... those *were* your boys though... but now you are supporting Burke's team... so I guess he's your boy now.... they guy who goes out of his way to (frank) us Canuck fans.
