We could retain 50% of his contract to make him manageable for another team and take a pick/low prospect in return. There has to be at least a few teams that could use Legwand as a 4C.

I actually heard that TM likes Legwand as a veteran who can kind of teach our young C's how to play the pivot defensively and win faceoffs and stuff like that.

Guys don't need to clear waivers to be called up anymore. That was part of the new CBA. They only have to clear to be sent down. They can be on the NHL roster for 10 games or 30 days (whichever comes first) before they have to clear waivers to go back down again.

It doesn't make sense to me because we have plenty of D when they're not hurt. McCabe and Ruhwedel both played last night and they were two of the injured guys before. So I don't really see a need for another signing right now.
