I think he should go regardless, reason one, next year we will not win the stanely cup its a given, so why slow down the rebuild on the fly by not trading expired contracts.
Reason two is vrbata was invisible in the playoffs last year - phyllee
I don't want him here next yr. Kids have to keep stepping up |

If one made the roster I would be extremely happy. If both did I don't think I have been that level of happy in a long long time. |

I can understand that if Gaunce goes down, mgmt can take a longer look at JV and JM but I think it totally sends the wrong message, especially after saying that youth will be served if they earn it.
I know that no vets spots would ever be on the line but IMO they just sent down the most NHL ready guy who has straight up outplayed all of the prospects and bubble guys if you look at the preseason games as a whole.
I'm sure he will get his chance later this season but it doesn't change the perception that mgmt is willing to baby "their" picks and acquisitions.

Possibly most nhl ready but he didn't outplay McCann in preseason.
I doubt both kids make it past the 9 games. By then maybe there is a market for Higgins/Hansen etc |

I think you should swap the 2nd and 3rd lines. Just so our 2nd line will be the shutdown line and 3rd line will be a scoring line, just to start the season.
I can see Hamhuis being dealt at some point, tdl or before...
We aren't really missing any vets that you did not list... - hillbillydeluxe
I think hammer getting traded is pretty common opinion. I also think it would be a mistake though. Our d prospect pool is pretty weak, I sure hope we draft a 1st round d-man soon, we need a stud. couldn't believe they passed on so many. Boesner does look dam good though. |

I don't think our D prospect is as bad as most believe.
Edler Tanev are young plus Hutton COrrado coming up then Subban Brisboise . It is looking better now |

I could see the argument that McCann outplayed him but I don't agree and I also doubt both kids make it past 9 games. The point still stands, if a prospect is going to get a chance out of camp, it should be the dictated by their play and not because any other reason.
I can understand why Vey, Baerstchi and Corrado won't be sent down because of the waiver risk.
But IMO based upon their play there is no reason Virtanen should still be up at the expense of Gaunce......unless of course mgmt is worried about Jake's feelings... |

What if we are in a solid playoff position. I don't see management willing to unload if he is still a major contributor at the time. Everyone seems to have pretty low odds for the Canucks this season. I'm still on the bubble until the end of November. Willie and CO. have some serious work ahead. - thundachunk
Id agree im not ready to write this year off fully, same boat as last year with the team stepping up it could be a good season, but if Vrbata could catch a first, especially if its a deep draft like benning said, its worth it |

He was good but he definitely did not outplay McCann or Virt. He had 1 point? He was solid but the others were dynamic difference makers. Easy choice imo |

As much as I liked the baer horvat Virtanen line, this makes more sense for a vet on everyline to mentor |

I agree.
MCCann most points. JV most hits 5 points , most rushes. Some fans need to stop watching games on 2 inch watches |

Glad to see Linden and co have been listening to me. That will leave 1 more to go. The last piece in my recommendation was Kenins (after tomorrows game I guess)

You have to have someone to keep them grounded and focused with both the highs and the lows. You can always tinker when one line isn't producing. |

It's funny. I had pretty much written them off going into last season. This season I feel a lot better. There's young players pushing, further growth from Horvat, Markstrom should be interesting to watch, etc. There was so much talk over the summer about how little there was to be excited for, but to me it seems like there's more than there has been in a long time. |

They fooled me - Kenins went down with Gaunce an hour ago - they just forgot to remove him from the website roster.

Subban looks like a pp specialist, Carrado looks like maybe a career 6 d-man to me. Maybe Brisbiose is top 4, but not for 2-3 years. Hutton certainly looks good so far this year, really impressed. Still, IMO pretty thin. |
