You have to have someone to keep them grounded and focused with both the highs and the lows. You can always tinker when one line isn't producing.

Subban looks like a pp specialist, Carrado looks like maybe a career 6 d-man to me. Maybe Brisbiose is top 4, but not for 2-3 years. Hutton certainly looks good so far this year, really impressed. Still, IMO pretty thin.

It's funny. I had pretty much written them off going into last season. This season I feel a lot better. There's young players pushing, further growth from Horvat, Markstrom should be interesting to watch, etc. There was so much talk over the summer about how little there was to be excited for, but to me it seems like there's more than there has been in a long time.

I wouldn't say I have high hopes/aspirations for the season but I am quite excited the direction things are moving this preseason. There really is a positive buzz going.

The thing about Vey is he is ok. Our young guys surprised us and surpassed him. I don't think anyone projected him as great ever , we were hoping for decent. He is decent . We. Have only so many roster spots available and to award them to the best players. Gaunce JV , McCann Grenier Sven have all passed Vey. Next year Shink Cassels Jensen and Boeser will be pressing for spots plus our first round pick.

If TO picked him up well God bless the patience of their fan base . They have picked up a few Canuck rejects over the last few years and that didn't work out well so what is one more shot.

Vey being moved has as much relevance and even less than trading our back up goalie or problem child Kassian.

I can understand that if Gaunce goes down, mgmt can take a longer look at JV and JM but I think it totally sends the wrong message, especially after saying that youth will be served if they earn it.

I know that no vets spots would ever be on the line but IMO they just sent down the most NHL ready guy who has straight up outplayed all of the prospects and bubble guys if you look at the preseason games as a whole.

I'm sure he will get his chance later this season but it doesn't change the perception that mgmt is willing to baby "their" picks and acquisitions.

With that being said floridas rookie line didn't start producing until they put a vet on it.
Yes Calgary has a star power young line but hudler played with the two rookies, the one rookie line that stands out to me, Edmonton, that speaks for itself

It's not bad, but I'm referring to an elite number 1 defense that Canucks have never had in their franchise history. Tanev edler is pretty good. I would prefer to have a Hedman/Subban/EL/Douby/ek/jones/weber/macdunough/kieth/suter.... the list goes on, and we don't have a top 30 d IMO.
