Would not be shocked if one of the two was moved by Thursday... Lovejoy to LA?? - Brianandr1
Why would LAK want Lovejoy? They have arguably the best defense in the league. |

man, my phone butchered the first part of that lol I didn't hear about Kuhn, I knew about Fehr. It makes sense then. I still don't like the 8 dmen, would rather it be 7, with it being a set rotation. I really hope they are keeping 8, in hopes of making a trade. - Thorny
It's really a default kind of thing. They didn't feel like any of the other forwards earned a spot. I think we all pretty much agree with that. I think a trade is certainly a possibility. Lovejoy would be the guy since Scuds has that boat anchor contract. |

There have been rumors the last few days that LA is looking for a veteran D man at a reasonable cost... Plus they know him well from ANA

Unless it's from a top reporter who actually has credible sources on payroll and an established informant network, I do not believe what they say. |

100 percent agreed, however there have also been rumors about "heated debate" among the Pens brass regarding "moving a veteran d man" (not named)... A TIOPS rumor |

Pretty much the same thing. I never take any of his "rumors" seriously either. |

I got a feeling Perron is being shopped. He seems like the odd man out on the roster now.
Top six is set. Perron didn't even get a look with Malkin.
Third line sounds like it's going to be Dupuis Bonino Sprong.
Perron on the 4th line doesn't make much sense when his 3M could be better spent on a top 4 dman. |

I'd just like to say I'm not the type to say I told you so. This is obviously regarding the Pouliot send down to WBS. He will for sure be called up this year but it'll do some good to play big minutes in the AHL for a while. |

EDM just waved Nikitin... any chance the Pens claim him? Even with moving Lovejoy I don't see how the Pens could make it work with the cap |

How does it work if they claim him? Do they assume the entire 4.5 million per... or 3.6... EDM keeping 950k? |

Idk. I think someone reported edm keeps a percentage. But I thought that was only on reentry waivers not waivers being sent down.. |

IDK either... If the Pens move Lovejoy perhaps they could convince EDM to retain 50 percent of the salary... better then paying the whole salary for an AHL player |

a team built on speed and skill is perfect for the regular season, but not ideal for the playoff hockey when things tighten up, the hitting picks up and penalties stop getting called... - Brianandr1
There is merit to your concern. Regular season and playoff hockey are two different games. Playoff survival is a matter of attrition. Here's an interested read (April 15) about the subject from FiveThirtyEight:
http://fivethirtyeight.co...cent-more-bone-crunching/
The number of hits per game (between reg season playoffs). An increase?!
"Regular-season games average about 42.0 total hits for both teams prior to overtime. In the playoffs, that number jumps 36 percent to 57.2 pre-overtime hits per game. Out of the 144 playoff teams since the 2005-06 NHL season, 142 increased their average number of hits per game after the playoffs started. " |

He's not very good. Definitely not worth his contract. |

No such thing as re-entry waivers anymore
Guy like Nikitin being put on waivers is just a Bat signal to the league that he could he had for free and isn't in the teams plans anymore
They would likely keep 50% of his salary and trade him for a 7th unless another team made a better offer, or they think they could get a better offer elsewhere
No ones making a waiver claim

Sprong is gone after 9 games so that will bump Perron to third line. Injuries will likely get Perron into top 6 at some point. If not you have an offensive 3rd line |

Also, hearing that #FSUTTER is playing RW for the Nucks with the Sedin twins. Weird. |

I never understood why Sutter was the Center and Malkin was the wing when they played together
Why did they not just put Sutter on the wing when we lacked Winger depth?

Lovejoy and Suderi cannot play in the same lineup. I mean, one of those two has to sit on a nightly basis. Right? - madmike71
my feeling is that lovejoy is a #4/5 caliber dman. i truly believe that.
but if scuderi is in that lineup for game 1 of the playoffs, i'm calling shenanigans.
keep him in there to play a lot of the regular season. i really don't care. but if he's playing in the playoffs, then there's something wrong. |
