Absolutely. I'm sure they would prefer to have kept him and I suspect they tried a trade but the Leafs knew they could get him for free.

Agreed.

When Kassian gets put on stage2 rehab or whatever suspension he is on, half these guys on the radio start saying they were aware of these issues, but they can't be airing that dirty laundry sort of poope, but these are the same guys who were over valuing Kassian's trade value and said JB got fleeced.
ffs they are so full of it. desperate to appear relevant.

Heard Friedman say on sportsnet that it was a shame McDavid wasn't in the east so they could see him play Eichel more often... was thinking it was too bad Eichel didn't play in the west.

In other words, some players sent to minors today will be back up in a day or two or once LTIR kicks in to start the season.

BobMcKenzie pointing out what the Canucks could have done...

But they didn't. Maybe there is something there we don't know about...

Thing is, based on his play, at some point Corrado is likely going to be exposed to waivers during the year...this was the best time to send him down as most teams are healthy and near the cap

Figures it would be the Leafs that would pick up a Canuck off waivers. I guess they are following the Canucks model.

LA probably told Benning that they had some other offers so he paid a steeper price, but yet Vey wasn't going to make LA's roster last year and had to be waived so Benning should have had the leverage unless there was a mini bidding war.

This "asset" was minimal in value, both to the team and in the trade market.

The Canucks would have been picking 7th if Vey was placed on waivers and it's highly unlikely he wouldn't have been claimed. He was coming off a decent stint with the Kings and centering the best line in the AHL with Toffoli and Pearson. Obviously it hasn't worked out as planned but I like the risk hey took.

Leafs are going to do the exact same thing which is smart

Harrington's been sent down for the day and he'll be called back up tomorrow once Robidas is placed on the IR.

Robidas is already on IR I believe, I think he'll be up once Panik clears.

EDIT: Leafs have had poor management in the past but this new group seems to know whats up. Hiring Brandon Pridham as an AGM was a solid move, especially given that he was one of the main contributors to the writing of the current CBA

I am not a Harper fan but I am very much against socialism. That is what the other parties propose. Socialism doesn't work. Its like trying to pick up a bucket full of water that you are standing in.
- thundachunk

*sigh* the idiocy is epic. The policies proposed by the Liberals and the NDP are hardly "socialist". Present-day liberals are pretty much what the con-men used to be before the dregs of Reform took over the party. NDP is pretty much what the Liberals were 15-20 years ago. Even the green party barely pegs the "socialist" bar.

i think you are probably most correct.

also, the team wanted to give mccann and virtanen (at least) 9 games. add in the fact that they don't want mccann playing 4LC (at least to start) so they needed to keep cracknell.

this means that the team would be carrying 2 extra forwards rather than 2 extra d.

the choice (imo) came down to keeping the two 19 year olds and exposing corrado or keeping 2 extra d and sending down 1 of mccann or virtanen.

had they kept up corrado, put higgins on LTIR and then brought up hutton; the decision would still have to be made within a month. once higgins is brought back, do you waive corrado or do you send down hutton or the 19 year old on the 9 gamer?
