I think the ultimate season would see the Sabres contending for a playoff spot, coming up short and winning the Austin Matthews lottery

Very nice to be able to look forward to the season again, to go to the arena/turn on the TV because you want to, not because you have to.

This season is going to be a lot of fun, especially when you compare it to the last two. We're going to get to see entertaining hockey in the 716. While the defense may be suspect, the offense will at least keep us in games more often than it did the last few years.

I see us ahead of the leafs, canes, devils and in the bunch with the flyers boston and panthers

there are 8 teams in the atlantic diviison

aside from tampa and the habs, none stand out as a great team


the leafs will suck
the red wings will probably take a step back
the bruins are a mess
the sens always overachieve and that bubble may burst
the panthers can really stink or be a solid 4th/5th seed in the east

then there is us with a big ? in net and the stink somewhere between the second line and rochester

really though, aside from the wings, there is no reason to not think we have the best top 6 out of the list of these other teams in the division

That's a little high. Lehner, Johnson, possibly Lieuwen or Makarov. Maybe a 4th if they find a way to upgrade from Johnson but it's unlikely Murray gives up on his guy this year.

not quite like 2 years ago when we had like 9 goalies play in buffalo and i think like 11 dressed..

I think the Bruins will be a lot worse than people think, Leafs and Sabres will beat them out.

They are well on their way to the bottom, but Sweeney hasn't completely ran them into the ground yet.

That would be great if we could have an exciting growth season but just fall short of making the playoffs and then hitting the lottery. I would love to see the Sabres send the first pick overall (Matthews) plus a package of players/prospects/picks to Arizona for OEL and their 1st round pick.

I will not be there, but I will know what happens at that game.
