I'll never understand why people get on players for playing the scheme the coaches implement. What I mean by that Rex Ryan is totally fine with giving up the short yardage plays, he said so himself. So they put Gilmore on the best receiver and let him get the 3-4 yards as their scheme allows it. Gilmore made all the plays to make sure there was nothing more given up which is exactly what the coaches planned for.

Yep, as long as every 3-4 yard play isn't a first down, that's a hell of a job.

Looked at the stats for the game. The teams had almost 130 combined plays, and there were 31 penalties I think....

Giants had 7 First Downs from penalty, 8 from the pass and 4 from rushing...sad

Grigo has been played in every role, at 2nd, 3rd line C, LW with Duchene...but right now according to Roy today he will start as the 13th forward...Roy has lost his god damn mind. The lack of goal scoring in the pre-season has made him undo everything they were trying in Pre-season, just defaulting back to last year lines and d pairings as much as he can.

Zads is on the 3rd pairing with Stuart...against shocking since it was Gormley and Barrie all pre-season long since they had lots of chemistry and now he has Gormly sitting for Guenin to jump into the Top 4, with Zads continuing to be on the 3rd pairing.

Roy already has me concerned and the puck hasnt dropped. Hes not even using his new weapons properly even though they both (plus Rantanen and Gormley) have been the most impressive players at camp and pre-season

At the time, Ladeskog did beat him out by a few weeks. Have him on my fantasy team was one of my targets. I love that kid. Def not a bust

Is it a "make the kids prove themselves" type approach perhaps?? Play the vets and make the kids have to shine in their small windows and push for time into the lineup??

I could see that from a guy who played nearly 2 decades in the NHL.

Thats surprising after hearing how well Grigs was doing with Mack, Tell Roy he can send back Big Z if he wants. We dont want him wasted as a #5-6

I went and saw the Avs/Sabres game 2 seasons ago in Colorado where we got crushed like 7-1 and chased Miller in what I think was his last or second to last game as a Sabre...

That team was ferocious. It was Roy's first year. MacKinnion was twice as fast as every other player on the ice. Landeskog and ROR just crushed everyone that moved and made Buffalo terrified to chase a puck.

I dont think so, just Roy puts things in a blender when it comes to lines and pairings when things arent working for him. Just frustrating that all pre-season the pairings and lines he had going out there was for nothing since he has flopped it all around for opening night.

Biggest issue with him is always rewarding vets with roles they shouldnt have...he puts Cody McLeod as the extra attacker, Mitchell with Duchene, Guenin in the Top 4, Holden on the PP. When things arent going his way he defaults back to 2 seasons ago when the Avs had their magic run.

Zads will be with Johnson sooner rather than later, Beauchemin is his partner for now, but once he starts to wear down, Zads will step in. They plan on brining him along slowly. Just wish he has a better partner than Stuart...fml

Foote already works for the Avs, hes in Player development. On ice consultant working with the Dmen. Hes been working with Zads a lot during pre-season.

Foppa is the GM of Modo I believe, I dont think he will be coming back overseas anytime soon, he has the life in sweden
