It's just so easy.
But seriously the only guys that should be considered for 50 are Stamkos and Ovie.
Kessel has the potential to score 50, but he's never even hit the 40 mark. Let's see him do that first.
Hall. Has no shot. Never scored. Plus team is still incomplete.
Crosby has only done it once. and has yet to do it again. He's a play-maker, especially now with Kessel taking the shots on that line. - tomburton99
Yeah, because there is a "right" answer for pre season predictions. Sorry to say it, but Stamkos and OV can easily do it, Hall is the most underrated player in the NHL, and he'll be playing with McDavid. Kessel has Crosby and Perry has the fact that he's Corey Perry.
It doesn't even seem far fetched at all, 5 fifty goal scorers really isn't that many, though maybe it's unlikely, but any of the guys listed have a decent chance, Hell,Tavares, Seguin and Tarasenko could all possibly do it. |

This is the same guy who predicted RNH would win the Art Ross prior to last season. - 1979AD
I never said that. If I did, it was probably a joke. I do think he could potentially win an Art Ross one day, why not? He's pretty good,. |

OVI is not special, never was... All he does is shoot hard. He is a very over rated guy. If anyone shot 400 shots a year they'd get his goal total. Not being a hater, just realistic.
His one on one moves are obvious and repetitive, on outside and cut in. He has no variety. - Leniwm1
I don't think you realize that shot generation is the entire reason OV is good. Its probably the hardest thing to do and he's the best at it. That is why he's the best. |

I do realize that, that's my point. And it's not that hard when more than half shots come off him being on full 2 min Power plays standing around waiting for one timers. I am a believer that if you are an offensive threat then screw defense and score as much as possible. That's why I hate what happened to Nash, Kovy etc... But if Ovi started playing D like the rest of his team his totals will go down.
But that's none of my business...
So let's just be happy that the season has begun! Go Devils! |

Hey James, do you think that if Ovechkin took 1000 shots and Tanner Glass took 1000 shots that both their shots have the same chance of going in? |

If its so simple as just taking shots, why don't other players have his goal totals? |

I don't know. Ask the players that get in the doghouse for not playing defense. Ask the players that get 40 seconds of PP time. Ask players who are told to dish it to OVI on the PP.
He has two qualities I love - skate hard and shoot hard.
But that's all he has.
Great players of his age have already won a cup or got his team to finals. How many "cup" teams did he already have, according to NBC and NHL people.
I'm not bashing on the guy, he's a good player. But I don't think I'll ever understand the "Great 8" meaning. |

LOL, based on what?
We are talking a former #1 overall pick here and he just hit 80 pts. Pretty sure no one is underrating him. Dubbing him in the elite goal scorer category and pegging him to crack 50, let alone 40, or 30 (none of which he has done) just because he has teenage mcjesus next to him is a reach of massive proportions
McLellan is a good coach and is going to try and teach these kids. He isnt going to cut them loose and run wild playing pick up hockey where McDavid is scoring 100 pts, Hall is potting 50 goals, RNH is putting up 90 pts, and Yakupov puts up 35+ goals
I think a tempered and realistic expectation for Hall is he makes the jump to 35+ goals this year, much the path that Seguin jumped from mid 20 goal seasons to back to back upper 30s |

Ovechkin puts up insane goal totals for this era. He's a special player. |

Only if Glass were shooting at an empty net from a closer distance. |

I'm the biggest Ovi critic out there, but you're completely missing the mark here. |
