Let me ask you a question. If someone else raped her and Kane restrained her—which the DNA evidence would not necessarily contradict—would that not be "assault" on his part?
Did that happen? I don't know. Neither do you. It is just as plausible as saying he did nothing and he is an innocent victim of a lie. - John Jaeckel
I've thought about that too. But by all accounts--never officially verified by the DA or the police afaik--they only took DNA samples from Kane.
Kane courts trouble. Even if he isn't guilty of rape, the management might be asking why he bit someone. Or punched a cabbie. Or was photographed passed out on a bar. So many incidents, so little time. I don't know how much of an effect this latest escapade is having on the Hawks, or the NHL's bottom line.
I've decided not to renew NHL Gamecenter Live this year and will skip Hawks games on NBC, but I'm only one person and a woman, and I don't think the NHL cares if it has female fans. We don't represent a lot of money for them. All I can do is turn away from hockey and discourage my kids from continuing to play.
Kane has been getting ovations everywhere he goes so I guess no one cares about his issues. I bet he stays in Chicago.
Oh, I'm in no way disputing he was wrong that it held the rape kit - though without seeing how big the bag was, it's not like a bag can't be used to hold a box.
And by authenticated, I would think the bag was authenticated by someone that night as it did contain something that was put in there as potential evidence, so my assumption is there was likely some signatures/initials on it. - stashu
It was an official evidence bag, given to the girl's mom at the hospital, but it was never used. The girl's top was placed in a different evidence bag supplied by the police the next morning.

Not saying that Pokka isn't up in order to potentially showcase him, but the main reason he is here is because his salary number fits the best for the Hawks.
They needed to get their total cap # to be as close to 71.4 as possible, after putting Rozy on LTIR. Svedberg makes 575k and Pokka makes 925k. By having Pokka up, the Hawks before Rozy LTIR are $539k over the cap. Had they left Svedberg up, they would only be $189k over the cap and that then influences how much they can spend later in the season when Rozy is still on LTIR. This way, they can spend up to that $539k over the cap as long as Rozy is still on LTIR.
They did the same thing last year or the year before with Stephen Johns. Had him on the roster because his salary fit the equation the best and then once the roster was locked down, he was shipped back to Rockford and someone else was brought up. - jpetersen5
StanBo is really good maximizing the Blackhawks salary cap situation.
i can't wait for the day as a wild fan!! but no he's not going anywhere, do u live in the US?? if u do it should be pretty obvious if u have money and your not a complete moron (ie aaron hernendez) u can get away with murder! or whatever you do, if its not on video, get an amazing lawyer and let em prey on the stupidity of the genral public!! happens everyday!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, so I'm not going to get on you for that. What I will say is that you DON'T speak for all women, nor do I think the NHL "doesn't care" about women. As much as you seem to think so, currently he has not been charged with anything, and so far the entire situation seems....not on the up and up...at least as of right now. My GF, who isn't a Kane, Hawks, or even hockey fan, but has followed the situation a little bit, thinks it's just as likely he might have been set up.
The point is, who knows how this situation will resolve itself, hopefully soon, and we can move on to just hockey talk on this blog.
Go Hawks! I think the Hawks will be fine with Kane, and I expect it to blow over and everything to be happily ever after. It's going to dissipate over time and the news and headache it brings to the team will go away. Does anyone still think about the Clinton/ Monica Lewinsky thing? No! Time heals everything.
Why are we still talking about Kaner' off- ice issues? We all contributed our opinions for the last two months about DNA, Attorneys, judges, rape charges and Kane's bad judgements. NOW OUR SEASON STARTS TOMORROW.....LET'S TALK ABOUT HOCKEY AND THE BLACKHAWKS and leave the Kane's issues to the judge/jury or the the two lawyers. How about it!

No kidding! I seriously can't wait until this entire situation is over.
Here's to another another good season and hopefully another Cup run!
Ok I see what you're saying. I'd agree, the term clutch is overused and it loses its real meaning.
My pet peeve is the overuse of the term Superstar. It used to mean the best of the best NHL players and now some people talk about team having three or four superstars. - paulr
Probably the most overused word when describing sports in general is "great".
Kane probably told the Hawks exactly what went on that night.
They feel it was not criminal, though another instance of Kane using poor judgement.
They do not like it one bit that he tarnished the franchise image.
They made their expectations crystal clear to him, with consequences.
There is no evidence Kane has an alcohol or drug issue, maybe a party issue.
They know how unique his hockey skills are.
They do not want to see if they can win without him.
The winner of a trade is usually the one that gets the best player.
It would be hard to think of any other team trading a player that is better than Kane for Kane.
The cap most likely will increase in the coming years, possible significantly.
SB has a plan(s) for addressing the eventualities.
They will move Crow before Kane.
Of all the great topics on the eve of the season JJ chose this one. Weak!!

i see you have determined that Kane is guilty without any evidence to support you
How outraged will you be toward the woman if the charges against him are found to be baseless?

If he did, then Kane, the Blackhawks and his lawyer are idiots. Telling them anything, without lawyer client privilege, would be asinine.
