Yeah, I hear you. I just think the entire Kane situation is the elephant in the room. The Blackhawks organization is taking some heat about him. I just read a different blog from a female fan putting all of her Blackhawks gear in a box because "the Blackhawks don't care about rape." That's some seriously bad press!

On a personal level, I noticed as I was watching Kane in the preseason I just wasn't a fan of his anymore. He's a great hockey player but I'd rather cheer for anyone else on the team before him. Maybe that'll change when the legal stuff is behind him and we can hear from him directly (and McDonough and Bowman) and hopefully get a better understanding of what happened. But maybe not.

I read that blog as well but just didn't get it. Think that it was written by someone with a separate agenda who isn't able to look at the situation objectively - they are on both sides of this thing. I'm a woman and a long time hockey fan but also a lawyer (which may warp my perspective a bit - I don't know) and the way I see it is the way I've looked at it all along - both Kane and his accuser are telling the truth - he's innocent and she ain't lying until proven otherwise. Can't blame the Hawks for doing the best they can in crappy circumstances - Kane isn't indicted or arrested so why should he be suspended (differnt thing than on voluntary leave)? How is the fact that a man who is merely being investigated is still at work in any way an indication that the organization that employs him doesn't care about rape? It's just not logical or supported by the facts. The gals at my lunch table at work are all pretty much of the same opinion as I am - waiting to see what the results of the investigation are before making up their minds about Kane or the organization or the accuser.

AND ITS OPENING DAY!! ACTUAL HOCKEY THAT COUNTS!! YES!!!!

This. And that Seguin trade. OMG, worse than Espo for Pit Martin.

depends on how you look at it. on the ice we lose. no question. off the ice they rid themselves of an unprofessional, party boy that they did not want to have around. let alone the rumors that he was banging Nathan Horton's wife.

sometimes team make decisions that don't improve the on ice product, or even take away from it. but, that on the other hand, improve the culture of the team.

in Boston every one that hated the trade trade was like "the Hawks were patient with Kane, and that worked out". and then Kane gets tied up in another office cluster (frank). and the Hawks may be tired of it and want to move on. i think the Bruins didn't want to have any more of Seguins antics under their watch.
