@HockeysCap: The @NHLBlackhawks place Rozsival on LTIR while they were above the cap by $529,712.
This gives them $539,712 cap relief.

HOCKEY QUESTION:
Thanks stljam for you answer on second part! Still curious as to the first

I know the leafs took Corrado off VANs hands. (Wish we could have! He's looked great and it would have been sweet to get them back for Stanton.) Anyway, my questions are as follows. I know (for a fact) a few teams put claims in for Corrado, TOR finished worse in league standings last year than the other teams so they got him first. Does TOR now move to the back of the list of teams with waiver claims? Or does the order stay the same?

Also- anyone else surprised Tokarski cleared?

You cannot replace Toews. From what I saw from my seat in Honda Center in the playoffs last season, I can think of many players who can disappear almost completely for a whole series. Kane is replaceable.

He should go to the Kings. He'd fit right in.

Dude, my comment was about what you said about Crosby.

Again, relax, man.

- John Jaeckel

What you misinterpreted what I said about Crosby. And then preceded to tell me I lost credibility. I'm sure you love when people tell you that you have no credibility. Judging by how you snap and have to repeat everything is rumors and they don't always transpire tells a different story as how you would have reacted in my position.

There is another, now retired Canadien superstar player of whom I have heard similar comments.

@THNMattLarkin: Pokka now suits up for Chicago. John Candy's character in Home Alone would be thrilled.

What?

People tell me all the time I have no credibility. I don't really care. Usually it's when I don't agree with them, or I dare suggest "Kaner" might be responsible for an obvious long-term pattern of behavior. Sound familiar?

The possibility of his being traded is a valid issue to discuss. Sorry it makes you so uncomfortable.

Again, please, relax.

Gotta be to showcase him in a possible trade...what other reasons why he would come up and Svedberg sent down...can't be cap savings...

I thought that the last time they showcased him as part of a possible trade his performance is what made the other team decide not to make the trade? Seems risky to do again

Incredible reference. Awesome Still want that jacket so bad. I guess he filmed that part for John Hughes for free, just because they were friends. He was a family friend to a buddy of mine and he said that at family parties or at a get together, he always told everyone to just call him Uncle John. One of the true good guys.

I haven't read through all the comments, so I may be repeating someone, but I see a couple different issues with trading Kane. 1. 10.5 is a HUGE cap hit, 2. Given what the Hawks really would want back, which is a high draft pick or a can't miss defensive stud along with some other parts, I don't know that a team would be willing to give up that much. You figure a team would want to either build around Kane or add him as a final piece in the push for a Cup. If you are building up, you don't want to give up your top prospects. If you are looking for that final piece, you are probably close on the salary cap, and you would have to give back one of your top players.

It would seem more likely the Hawks would deal Crawford, set Darling as their #1, and try to find a young goaltender to groom.

- biskit67

A team looking for a final piece might have to send salary back to the Blackhawks but that might be workable for Chicago if the player can contribute or could be moved or the term of the deal was short.

There is another scenario too, a team that is a couple of pieces away from a Cup like Winnipeg. They lost in the first round last year, they might miss the playoffs this year. Kane would make them good enough to get to the second round or maybe the WCF. Another piece or two might get them further and build some winning pedigree.

I think it has something to do with maximizing the benefit of accruing cap space. I can't recall all the details but I think this was done before with Johns last season.

Sharp had a modified NTC and the return was below fair value in most people's opinions. What recent star player has waived their NMC against their will?http://www.generalfanager.com/players/530
- jfkst1

NMC and NTC have ZERO effect on a player ultimately being traded unless it is a veteran in his final year of a contract. The clause may slow things down a bit but players ultimately go when not wanted....Usually the wife blesses the new location and a deal is done.

Im scratching my head

I dont get it and how they would call up someone more expensive to maximize cap benefits

Then again, I shouldnt concern myself with these things

I think the LTIR is involved somehow too. I'm having a bit of a brain cramp but I think we've seen this before.

When you put someone on LTIR to get any cap relief you need to you take your cap figure at the time you put him on LTIR and you add The LTIR salary to it. you only get relief in the amount that takes you over the cap hit. with Pokka's 925 and Roz $600 that put us over the cap by $539K so moving forward We can have a player taking Roz spot on the roster that can make up to 984K. If Svedberg was on the roster it would have only been $600 since Sved makes less then Roz.

Basically you want to be as close to the cap as possible when you put someone on LTIR.

That's probably the last time but not really comparable...Weight had no future with the Blues... Plus he was with the Blues on only a 2 yr deal and it was a deadline trade because they had no intention of resigning.

I was told a team asked that the Hawks showcase Pokka before the last preseason game against the Blues. You might be right.
