Yes, was impressive is games I watched last year.
- ob18

The other kid to watch is Jesse Puljujarvi....the Finnish kid....the scouts are saying he's the best fin to come along in a while....6 "3 at 17, with sick skill.

Giroux
Matthews
Couturier
Laughton

Would be top 5 center depth in the league. Matthews isn't quite on the level with McDavid and Eichel but he's almost a year older so I'm very confident he'll be able to excel in a top 6 NHL spot as a 19 year old rookie.

- Feanor

Unless Laughton utterly stumbles this year, you'd have to figure he'd be more valuable as a trade chip then getting spare minutes and PK work. I'd swap him out for a 1/2 LW, possibly in a package.

I see it the same. I also think the Flyers will finish ahead of Boston as well.
- BiggE

I know there's a lot of doom and gloom but I have the Flyer finishing 6-7th in the east and making the playoffs.

At least 50% of the articles i read on matthews would of had him ahead of eichel this year.

If we are as bad we could be matthews puljujarvi and tkachuck are all very real options for us.

And this draft is said to not only be extremely deep through out the top few rounds but also a ton of variety of players.

I've heard that he plays both wings, but seems to play RW more. I wouldn't pass him up if Matthews and Tkachuk are both off the board.

Can't afford to buyout Vinny, MacDonald and Umberger.
- Feanor

Can't we get someone to take him. They took Pronger. C'mon... He has Bruin written all over him. Him and MacDonald.

Right now hes rated as 2 on the watch list. With the defenseman and tkachuck 3 and 4. But we know how rankings can change. Patrik laine for instance is an even bigger finnish winger who they say could be even better than puljujarvi

How are they improving the lineup to make that happen? You can't honestly think this crew can make that happen.

I think I'll beat the Tyler Benson & Julien Gauthier drum this year

Wait are you saying for good late round picks or for best the draft?

They haven't played a game and we're already talking draft picks?

Wow... people on here thought I was negative last season.

Tkachuck has been outstanding to start the season..........his teammate Max Jones has also been solid

Unless Laughtn doesn't stick & they move Schenn in as C or even Gagner and return Couturier to being just a shut down guy
- Jsaquella

I'm disappointed that they never tried Umberger - Schenn - Gagner as a line. Not that I'm a huge Umberger fan right now, but it at least warranted a look for a game IMO.

No as possible 1st rounders........of course this is subject to change based on how they play to determine possible draft positions.

If multiple people play over their heads, they get no major injuries, Hakstol sprinkles magic pixie dust in the form of a new system, AND other teams in their division experience major injuries.....MAYBE they squeak in. Squeaking into the playoffs is this team's absolute ceiling.

They will likely be picking between 5 and 10 again, though.

So....

Raffl-Giroux-Voracek
Read-Couturier-Simmonds
Schenn-Laughton-Umberger
Vandevelde-White-Bellemare

??

Man, I think Vandevelde is such a waste.

That line is like a Jeopardy question.

It's no secret I kinda like the small, speedy, skilled guys...but at this point we really could use a big, physical but fast and skilled LW. Tkachuk would be a perfect fit.

Look on the bright side. If we start out all doom and gloom, we can't possibly be let down. There is nowhere to go from here, but up.

Haha.

I still maintain Schenn has not been given a fair opportunity though. I'll buy that more on Gagner since he's gotten a lot more games at C.

Who in the Metro did they leapfrog to make that happen?

They have to be at least the 5th-best team in the division -- I'm not sure I can see that.

Oh ok. I really can see Benson trending upwards once he gets his groove, but Julien Gauthier is a big body with hands like stones. The biggest thing that makes me cringe is how often he get gets bodied off the puck by much smaller players
