With 30 teams in the league tied for 8th overall is not average, certainly not in any math class I took. And the Metro was pretty darn tough. 21-6-3 versus Rangers, Pens, Senators, Blue Jackets, Flyers, etc.

Chad Johnson has a game log of 19 games. In those games, those "above average" Islanders were an astounding 8-11.

I'm not diminishing what the Isles did - I actually like the team, but who cares what they do when the guy in question isn't on the ice (that's my take anyways).

You weren't very clear when you wrote that, I took it to mean a team that was in the 8-11 range, not Johnson's record. Having watched a number of those games Johnson was the reason for the 8-11 record, not the team.

When Neuvirth played here in Buffalo, he had a .918 sv % on one of the worst teams ever to set foot on ice.

In NY, he had a .881 sv % on a team that you're arguing is above average.

Halak's save % last year was a .914. So really, it's the offense that's above average while the defense and goaltending are just average.

100+ points is not average no matter how you try to couch it. Tied for 8th overall in points in the league is not average.

One lame thing about the left coast is that all games are done by10:30-11.
I used to love staying up till after midnight in NY watching the last game of the night on Saturdays.

I always envied the west coast for the opposite - games being done by 11 and not having to stay up til 2am to see them end.

I think I'd hate football season though being an expat - the Bills starting at 10am would be brutal.
