Lucic doesn't need to headhunt like Torres to get his point across. He can goon it up when needed or play top 6 minutes when needed...not many like that. Sure the Couture hit on Lucic was clean, but it doesn't matter if it was clean or dirty. Lucic chased after Couture to send him a message...if you chose to hit me clean or dirty you will deal with me on this level. I guarantee you Couture will think twice about going low on Lucic again. Actually no it's not, to even discount that their where no issues before hockey is naive.

So you're suggesting that my brother killed himself because he fought in sports, and the other mental and depression issues played no part. I have no idea why he did this to himself and his family, but I certainly don't believe fighting was the route cause

Sorry, that's supposed to say that it's incorrect that ALL those players had mental illness prior to playing hockey is incorrect.

The only thing we can say with absolute certainty is that physical contact, compounded by trauma to the head, increases the damage done to the brain and that trauma is being increasingly linked to INCREASED cases of mental illness.

They have developed a link between brain trauma and mental illness. That's why the NFL and NHL are being sued. And they aren't being sued because there's a link, they're being sued because THEY KNEW about the link.

And of course every player who suffers from some form of mental illness did not get it from playing sports. But it would also be incorrect to suggest that if they did play contact sports, that mental illness was not at least contributed by physical contact. We just don't know at this point.

There are many reasons why individuals have mental illnesses and many of those are not understood.

One thing that is documented by the scientific and medical community in large is the correlation between head trauma and CTE.

Great blanket statements you are throwing out today. I don't think taking a few punches was the sole cause of suicides....but clearly you do.

Also, if you played hockey you wouldn't agree that fighting isn't a deterrent. That's a ridiculous comment. I play beer league hockey and I'm aware of the size of the other team. If they don't have a tough guy we will certainly take liberties on their skilled guys and I am talking about beer league hockey.

And we aren't talking about your f*cking beer league. We're talking about professional athletes with God complexes, who think they're invincible, and most don't have to fight anyways cause they all have enforcers who do it for them.

The story I read was, Rypein was playing in the WHL.
And he begged his girlfriend to come to a certain game and there was a reason she couldnt(weather?). Anyways. She got killed on the way to the game in an accident. Kid blame himself and began fighting depression from the guilt.
