Ideally Hoping that is how it works out.

If both JV and McCann can stay beyond their 9 games, they should be moving out some salary, crazy to have a guy like Prust, Dorsett, Higgins or Hansen with their salary in the press box. and we still have Gaunce that looks ready to play in the NHL for depth.

First game out of the way and lots of hockey to be played, it feels like we are the Rodney Dangerfield of the NHL. The D is likely the biggest question mark, but for the transition game, Bartkowski is an improvement over Bieksa.

(I listed 4 vets above, but wouldn't expect all of them moved... but at least 1)

Bollig was trying to injure our players. The crew didn't catch it, but after hit burrows he sucker punched him to the back of the head.

Let's try and avoid the 'accidental' flagging today, shall we.

I am turning into a big fan of the homegrown talent.
- VANTEL

I watch games with my brother in law and we are always looking to see which line is coming on and if one of the younsters is in a spot to make or push the play.

Just like the signing of Miller, 1 year too long, the youngsters are going to expose JB for not having enough faith in the youth movement.

Hoping McCann and JV stay beyond the 9 and deliver good rookie seasons.

Hutton. Not so worried about, if he stumbles, Utica is a good place to get his confidence back.

He's a meat. I don't want him here.

Great for Cooch!

Sharks pee'd all over em.

And how does Brown get a free pass from league discipline every time?

Dirty Dirty Dirty Player.

I'd rather keep Hutton here, mistakes and all, he's going to probably be our QB1 on the PP by season's end. Weber is expendable and Bartkowski makes Hamhuis look old and slow. I'll say this for Benning, he might be a crappy GM when it comes to asset management and contracts, but he's got an eye for talent that's for sure.

Their is better talent in Utica that we could take before him. I honestly doubt he plays another game in the NHL unless it's diar circumstances. Not a chance in hell he's going to light it up in Utica.

I care because if I am discussing something I would like to know if they know what it feels like in those situations and not only read about it. It is a fair question.

I read about acting and watch it on tv daily but I really don't know what is like to actually act. I can tell if a person is good on screen or not but I have no idea about the whole realm of acting

We reduced half the blunders and wasted power plays by removing Bieksa. Maybe Sbisa will be gone next season. Things should be tighter in the future thats for sure.

Those 2 fights are perfect examples of why fighting should be banned from hockey. Neither had anything to do with the play. Neither was in protection of a player who had been cheap-shotted. They were staged. They were fighting for the sake of fighting.

Fighting has lost it's place in hockey and it has nothing to do with the instigator penalty. It's about the health and well being of players. Fighting does not protect anyone, it simply puts those who engage in on ice, standing on 2 narrow blades, bare knuckle, fisticuffs in danger.

- KB3Point0

I strongly disagree. I'm glad players like Sestito are gone from the league but all of these guys can play hockey as well as fight. Both fights were about sending a message and I believe the message was received. Hockey is a violent game and the physical nature of the sport helps attract more casual fans. Eliminate fighting and you will have more stick work and cheap shots which imo is more dangerous.

Those were not staged fights. Dorsett and Ferlund have a history and I imagine Dorsett was trying to send a message.

Bollig was being a cheap shot all game until Prust fought him. He was slashing guys and cross checking behind the play or after the play. Eventually you have top make these guys understand they can't keep that stuff up. It is typical of a Hartley team.

To say it is staged and not needed, will only ever happen if the refs start calling all the cheap stuff happening, which they won't. So this is the only way the team can make the players accountable.

That's hockey.

who cares... never got why people tend to look down on fans if they haven't played a game. What ever angle you are viewing the game, you are still a fan. All perspectives are good.
- anavar

There's a bunch of intricacies the average viewing fan misses having never played the game (esp. at a high level). That's what's so painful about these comment boards... most people cant even skate so why should we give two poops about their opinion?

Have you ever played a real game of league hockey over the age of 15?

I am beginning to think you are a pencil pusher and book reader. You are all about stats but pay little attention to setting tones and creating space. I am not being sarcastic but have you ever played the game in an organized league?

- VANTEL

I've asked him this question many times and he hasn't answered so it's likely true. Which is fine as he is entitled to his opinion and he often a has good points...but it also explains how he would like to fill the roster out with small, quick skilled guys and doesn't understand the value of a Prust or Sutter. Every team needs a balance of attacking and defending and some guys to protect your rookies/ scorers.

Me too, just saying though, if he goes through a tough spell, the option is there to send him down to get his confidence back.

Totally changes the flow of the game to have skating and a good first pass from our defence.

Whoever is playing well should get the call up.

I don't think they want Vey back up with the Canucks if he isn't more aggressive offensively, trying to push the play and generate opportunity. If he can't play that way, he won't be here or anywhere in the NHL. Don't want to write him off yet. But others are taking a step forward when he has taken a step back.

Lets see if Green can get him going.

I think it's obvious at this point that if he was indeed ready he would be here
