He looked ok, had a terrible partner in Holden, but he had a decent game. It was a joke that Roy changed all the lines and the D partners for last nights game. So Zad went from playing with either with Barrie or Stuart to having to play with Holden.

Yes has has lost his mind. He benched Grigo who was showing chemistry being on the LW with any of the C (Dutch, MacK, or Soda) to move a natural RW in Rantanen to LW (who has never played that position before) so he could dress Rendulic a raw undrafted rookie from Croatia to play RW bc he cant play his off wing. Made no sense why he did that for his 3rd line.

They are going to bring him along slowly, seems like Beauchemin is really mentoring him. I bet by the half way point, he will be playing with Barrie consistently.

Love his skating ability for a big man, and a few times last night he was starting to get really nasty trying to throw big hits.

Seeing EJ with a real reliable partner in Beauch, actually looked like a legit NHL top pairing. 3 years might be too long for an older like him, but whatever he will be solid for the next 2 years and they will deal with the last year of that contract later on

That's his thing though. He needs to figure out when to throw them in this league without taking yourself out of the play. I just wish our defense would progress a little quicker, having an offense that can score goals in bunches was something we haven't seen since 2007 and now that it may be back our defense and goaltending is Swiss cheese. It's always something.

Welcome to the Avs 4 years ago Its been a long process to get the D to where it is today, but the first years of trading for EJ and Varly for them to mature...ugh that was a rough year. so much offense and potential in net and on the D core, but just the team was just paper tigers.

That wont be hard if Barrie is still being paired with a boat anchor in Guenin. Zads and Gormley were so much better with him. And the fact that That pairing were on the ice and caused 3 of the 4 3rd period goals, and Roy refuses to make any line up changes for Game 2. I expect more terrible D for Barrie

I think he gets moved eventually, at the deadline in a prospect swap. With Bigras and Geertsen in the AHL now, he has been leap frogged for call ups.

He could still be a good NHL 3rd pairing guy, but he wont get a chance with the Avs. Roy seems to be really harsh against any of the left over prospects from Pracey's era
