They said may be due to the fact that Rochester has a game at 730 on saturday not sure if the CBA allows a player to be a back up here and then go to AHL to play/back up in the same day
- CoHo_to_B-Lo

That has happened before . Think it was Biron. Played earlier and backupped the Sabres that evening .

He's not cleared to play. He is here to rehab and be a practice goalie. The Amerks play tonight and a goalie gets called up after the game for the Sabres game on Saturday to serve as backup.
- Stripes77

how can you practice if not cleared to play?

serious question

Of course. Players do it all the time. Enter the non contact jerseys.

I would think as a goalie he has to be cleared to play.... He is out there taking shots and full on practicing. According to everyone who is there.

He has been practicing all along. Taking shots and getting back to game shape is one thing. Actually playing a game is another.

Ahh i see now, yes he is not cleared for game action until November( they think) Lieuwen will play tonight and come to buffalo tomorrow to back up johnson and then either head down the 90 to back up Makarov or they may call up C.J Motte to go to rochester saruday night.

@kevinoDandC: No Ljnus Ullmark at #Amerks skate. Assuming he'll be the second goalie in practice with the #Sabres today. His IS NOT cleared to play.

That doesn't make any sense, cool mask though, way less garden variety than Johnson. He went with a minion

Why doesn't it make sense?

Players that aren't cleared to play practice all the time.

Just because he's a goaltender doesn't change that.

I highly doubt he is going all out in practice. He's most likely getting back to being able to push off and go post to post. Building up strength and such.

Eichel what a good addition.

Good for ya Sabres Fan. Kane is also one hell of a pickup...I was hoping the old Murray pick him...damn

Well you might prefer your backup be able to play, Ullmark gets sent down and Leiuwen gets called up after tonight's Amerks game? ... That would make more sense

Which will most likely happen but since the Amerks play tonight keep both of their goalies in Rochester and call them up after the game. So Ullmark is at Sabres practice today.

I don't think those trades can be judged even at the end of this year. We have 9 new skaters on the ice along with 2 rookies. It will take time to gel that together.

maybe 2 or 3 years down the road if Kane is not potting 30+ goals and ROR is not the leader, wrecking ball, with 55+ points every season.. sure I can see the argument.

His best play was one nobody has shown or talked much about, where he was 1 on 2 going into the offensive zone, and chipped the puck to an open space where it looked like either one of the D or the goalie would easily get the puck, only to see him beat everyone to the puck and put a shot on goal that almost went in, and almost had Kane depositing the rebound.

Amazing play.

The power he has is amazing. 1 or 2 strides for him and he blows by guys looking like they are running on ice.
