Allan Muir speculates we could see our first trade of the season perhaps before this weekend is over. If Buffalo Sabres starting goalie Robin Lehner (right-ankle injury) is sidelined for an extended period, they could be in the market for help between the pipes. Muir believes the Calgary Flames, who are carrying three netminders, could be a trade partner for the Sabres, claiming they’re willing to part with Karri Ramo or Jonas Hiller. The latter is more experienced and also more expensive ($4.5 million) that Ramo, but the Sabres have the depth in cap space and draft picks to swing a deal.
THE HOCKEY NEWS’ Brian Costello tweets “Flames could get more in return for Hiller than Ramo, but would Cgy settle for a Ramo-Ortio duo if Hiller goes to Buffalo?
EDMONTON JOURNAL: Jonathan Willis recently noted the Oilers also have depth to move a goalie, having recently demoted Ben Scrivens.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: I think the Sabres won’t have much choice but to acquire a goaltender if Lehner is on the shelf for a lengthy period. For them, this season is about being competitive and improving. To do that, they need decent goaltending. Hiller has more experience but he’s also struggled with his consistency. Sabres GM Tim Murray will certainly shop around and it wouldn’t be surprising if he calls the Oilers about Scrivens, who might benefit from a trade at this point. |

Lehner isn't the answer either even when he is healthy.

Based off of 1 game and 3 preseason games?
When he first came into the league he started out on fire. Injuries have derailed him but IMO it is damn near impossible to predict goaltending. |

2 pp's = too small a sample size. Can't remember but Eichel could have had a shift right before a penalty. And also, game 2. They are trying to find the right guy to park in front - Khymlev13

Speaking of ROR, he won 11/14 faceoffs. Won some battles in neutral zone and along the boards. He was one of the few forwards with a good game. |

There is no doubt in my mind Murray will get another goalie by Monday. 2+ months for Lenner pushes his timetable to 2016. If we can get a capable stopper, we'll be all right. |

Nah, just a little over reaction from some including me.
Normal human instinct I suppose.
I have hope yet! |

Not a fan of the Lehner trade at all but we are going to have to give him time. |

A 3rd round pick should be enough to get Hiller from Calgary. We have 3 3rd rounders I believe. He would be our best option right now. Didn't get to see the the game because of work but heard the first half was very competitive before falling back to old habits. It's not surprising to me that they can only score one goal a game now. With more time this team will gel and become a 3 goal a game team. I have faith ROR will bring some offense to the club, Eichel will score 20 goals this year, Ennis and Kane will start to hit the scoresheet soon. Remember they have played 2 pretty good teams. |

I expected that the first month or so of the season probably would be not so great being that there's 9 new faces on the bench. - HonkFortheGoose
People are expecting way to much of this team, especially this early. Like you said, loads of new faces and we are horribly young. It will take some time for everyone to get used to each other and develop some chemistry.
The one good thing, IMO they actually look like an NHL team this year, have some speed and can actually play with a team like Tampa for long stretches. Sure there were lapses today but the team is light years ahead of where we were last year even though the amount of wins might not show it.
This was never going to be a one or two year turnaround, year 3 we should be able to compete with anyone and make the playoffs. |

I would like:
More than one goal a game
The lines to have some time to gel.
Neither are happening currently. I knew defensively it wouldn't be great. |

I think (or at least hope) the line juggling stops shortly once we get a few more games into the season.
It sucks we haven't score more but at least I'm not embarrassed to watch the team this year. So far anyway. |

I would have felt better if Lehner was more established as a goalie and I wouldn't be worrying so much about coming off an injury. But I think he needs time to see what we have. I am still for trading for a Hiller type (and potentially flipping him at the deadline if the Sabres are pretenders). I think mid January is when we can see what Lehner really is. If he's the answer then this coming offseason is all about the blue line. |
