Did a guy in black rimmed glasses abuse you as a kid? Perhaps you should seek counseling, and stay off of the hockey boards. Your posts are getting stranger, and more delusional by the day. - bobmack13
Good talk.

The season didn't even start and all the frugal naysayers still living in the Darcy era were broken records proclaiming "Murray overpaid this guy and that guy", we should've just signed so and so", " I hope he doesn't trade away another high draft pick for a goalie", "why would he give Kaleta a PTO" etc.. It's just getting annoying and it is the same select few of you. Give Lehner a chance. The kid needs atleast a good 20 games or so before we'll really know if the value Murray see's in him is there. And keep in mind, he is not playing with a top defense troops in front of him so don't expect him to look like Carey Price or Lundqvist.
We now have 4 active goalies; Lehner sprained his ankle. I'm putting my money on that. 3-4 weeks max and he'll be back. We sit tight for now with what we have. |

Like this guy has ever heard of hip hop...
If it was a gangsta rap song then you might have a point.
I think you're being a little over dramatic over a goal song, a goal song that was voted on none the less. You're right hockey is s mostly white sport. However those people voted on a hip hop song. One that is getting pretty positive reviews everywhere in the media. You don't have to like it but like its been said the way it was cut makes it work.
I will also say as a 32 year old white male I have a huge variety of tastes in music. Everything from Sinatra to Sabbath. I grew up loving punk bands like Rancid, Social D and Bad Religion but I was never one of those people who let the music I listened to define what I was going to wear, how I was going to look and how I was going to act as a person.
I will say this much if you walk past a college hockey dressing room you'll mostly hear rap music.
I understand you're a traditionalist but unfortunately for hockey to survive there needs to be an infusion of non traditional hockey fans. This goal song is anything but traditional. - Stripes77
I'll back this as someone with 10+ years on you. This is a 20 year old hip hop song. It's not like it's Lil Wayne or Mikki Manaj or something. Its got some history and its from a time when main stream hip hop wasnt total garbage.
And remember people, there was a sh!tbull song on that list. That loser could have been singing our goal song. THAT would have been embarrassing.
Wit that said, 10am game (for the west coast) is gonna feel weird.

Even my dad and to a lesser extent my grand father (52 and 77 in age) liked the choice. I am not sure my grandfather can hear it very well as his hearing is going but he said it was nice to see the crowd get into it.
I think we are putting too much emphasis on a song when people really want to watch a winning product that's entertaining.
The FNC has been a morgue the last 3 years. Hopefully the new young talent helps change that. |

Big changes to Sabres' lines: Girgensons-O'Reilly-Ennis, Kane-Eichel-McGinn, Moulson-Larsson-Foligno, Deslauriers-Legwand-Reinhart.
I know its early on but why change the one line that was really getting going?
Reinhart on the 4th already? Not a fan. |

It's not about hockey, its about the reaction from the crowd.
That song has been played in arenas all over the country. Hockey games, baseball games, football games and basketball games.

I'm going to guess that they're putting him there so that he's got some time to adjust to the speed of the game and get more comfortable and not be dragging down the rest of the line like he did on Thursday.
Washington did it with Backstrom for a bit when he first came into the league. He doesn't seemto have been adversely affected by it. |

those are pretty much the main points...it gets people in to it and the more we score, the more people will get used to it. I'mot even much of a hip hop fan, but this song is so old, it's different than what is going on today. As much as I'd like to hear AC/DC every goal, im already a NHL/Sabres customer. They're looking for new ones. And granted, Homies points about the NHL marketing itself are all true. They're a mess. they blackout their own plying customers. but with this song, the sabres are marketing themselves. I think it's actually prett forward-thinking rather than using that "Woo-hoo" song by Blur that gets played in every arena everywhere.

Seems like it.
Reinhart IMO is the type of player that will bring out the best in others once he gets his legs and brain moving at a NHL speed. I don't know how much he can bring out in Deslauriers though |

I agree, when was the last time the Sabres got any sort of positive coverage for anything let alone a goal song from national media in Canada and in the states? |

It's not about him making the other guys he's with better, it's about getting him used to the speed. Once you can see he's much more comfortable out there, they'll start moving him up the ranks. |

Everyone is entitled to their opinion about what music they like, but not everything in this world has to be forced into a melting pot of different cultures. Some things should be allowed to exist and just be left alone, and I believe the heritage and history of hockey in one of them.
Hip-hop is fine if you like it but it shouldn't be pushed on a traditional white cultured sport in the name of progressionism. If, that's the case then when should I be expecting to hear Slipknot or EyeHateGod being played at an NBA game? This PC garbage is just not a one-way street.
Yes, I know we are getting more players of different ethnic backgrounds, and that's great. I want the best product on the ice. But, that doesn't mean the game needs to start evolving in a way that it reflects an urban, hip-hop culture. I mean these people who are new to the sport and the party need to assimilate into the culture and traditions of the game and its past, the long-standing majority is not the ones who should be forced into change that reflects the minority.

It's a freaking goal song, a song that gets played on average a little less than 3 times per game for the home team. It's not like teams are coming out to DMX's "What these b!tches want for the money" and Jay Z is being played at every whistle. |
