Is there anything finer than an early evening wine/jazz buzz and watching the Leafs getting pounded? - docmorgan
Only if it was the Canucks pounding them. And you know it would be happening right about now, even if it was a home game. |

Anyone else surprised we have seen so many coaches challenge. Boston should win this, and that would make every one correct so far.

To be fair, he's not working with much. Didn't see any of last game, but they took it to habs in game 1. The biggest question with them is will they be patient - Bieksa#3

He’s come along way considering coach Willie Desjardins didn’t think Horvat had a snowball’s chance in hell of making the team while conferring with GM Jim Benning just a few months ago.
“Early in the year, Jim talked about him coming in, and I just didn’t see a 19-year-old coming in and playing if we were going to try and make a run,” Desjardins said. “And until he proved it to me, I just didn’t believe it. We got in a situation where we got down guys, and he was playing good, and all of a sudden, there’s the one game in Vancouver where I had him play against Anze Kopitar’s line. He proved that he could battle.” - belcherbd
Still, he never said he didnt want him in the line up. Horvat had to prove himself and the coach knew nothing about him. Horvat proved the team needed him... he is still here. The only one who forced WD into keeping Horvat in the line up was Horvat as far as we know.
Now we have 3 youngsters who we only got a first look at this camp. Then there is Sven...
To think WD is getting a hard time for not like youth is kind of backwards.
There's a bit of a log jam on the wing... it's reasonable to think they're going to rotate the two rookie forwards... whats the hurry?

I don't have a dog in the fight, I was just providing the quote....
I have no problem with WD bit I do think he was hesitant to have Bo on the lineup based on his comments and that it is reasonable to suggest Benning influenced the decision to give him a shot.

The next 24 hours is going to be great, Canuck game, F1 race, 4 rugby games and a whole day of NFL, and I'm smoking salmon. I think I'll pull out the boubon |
