Also, I am actually proud of myself, I guesstimated at that 30 number. This years average. 29.78 team shots per game.

Just watching Eichel in these first 3 games is enough for me to know that the last 2 years wasn't a waste and was 100% worth it. Even when he's not in the offensive zone, he's doing all the right things. Yes, he'll have rough games here and there. I'm sure at some point mid season he'll probably struggle as he's not used to a schedule this demanding. But damn, he's fun to watch.

He's the first player on this team probably since Briere that has the ability to create space for himself, by himself. You need at least one of those if you are ever going to win a championship.

On a different note, I have been using MLB Gameday to follow the afternoon baseball games at work, and the way they do their website is simply phenomenal. I can't wait to see what they do with the NHL.

It's so fun to watch. It's a weird feeling to actually look forward to the next game of the year again.

This Eichel kid might not be so bad after all....
God damn.. I was expecting it to take him a little bit of bumps/bruises to get an 18 year old used to playing with grown men... but he is showing why he's an elite playe.r

I was really not expecting him to impose his will, and I did NOT expect the accuracy he's displayed on his two perfect goals. That one from yesterday, the angle, the location of the shot... daresay I haven't seen a snipe like that since Turgeon. Only this kid actually did the physical work to get the puck back.
Speed, accuracy, physicality... total package so far. He'll probably have a slump or two but damn.

It was not a good shot, it was a bad play by the goalie....

Nah, Bob did what he was supposed to - hugged the near post and took away everything low. There was one place he could get beat, which most players aren't able to hit.

And it's not like he did it against some scrub player. Jenner is bigger than Eichel is and Eichel outmuscled him at the blueline to keep the puck onside. And that was after Eichel had to take an extra 5 strides or so to even get to the puck before Jenner in the first place.
It may be the best individual effort we've seen from a Sabre player in a very long time.

It was a great play, and, from the angle it was shot from, probably a bad play by the goaltender as well. The two don't have to be mutually exclusive. If that was Ryan Miller about four years ago, many would be all over him.

Didn't blast the guy, just leveraged his hip and took the puck away. Still a bit engorged to be honest.

Looks like McDavid is holding strong in EDM...
2 games, 0 points, -1 rating, 4 SOG, and 20.8% on the dot. - JVince11
McDavid is going through an adjustment period of playing against men, not boys. The difference in Eichel's play and McDavid's right now is because of where each of them played last year.
