I can't believe we're actually going to discuss this on this board, but she's the first one I thought of, too. Madonna is/was great but TS is right there with her. - Scoob

He can't skate well enough to play on this team. The team getting blown out because Mason was off his game for the first six minutes on Saturday doesn't change that. - Feanor
Okay, let's continue to miss the point, shall we?
We as fans can wash our hands of Vinny but I don't think the new Coach can come in, claim he's given everyone a fresh start but not actually do it. Sam Gagner and Radko Gudas both had bad preseason games but managed to bounce back last night. I'm not saying Vinny will come in and manage to hang on to a full time job. I'm saying, if the Coach is going to claim to be fair, than be fair. Let Vinny get into a game after a blow out and if he fails, Vinny has no excuse to hide behind and the new Coach proves his point. |

Ever hear of the little angel known as Taylor Swift? - aightwebang17
She actually has a few catchy songs from her earlier albums, but all of her songs are pretty much the same. Plus, Madonna was actually a pretty good singer and was able to promote herself without twitter/the internet. But, sadly, she and Lady Gaga are probably the closest thing that exist today. |

My apologies.
The current fan who has watched the Flyers game in and game out can pass final judgement. I don't think the brand new coach can. I don't think it's right. |

If you watched last week's American horror story you'd know lady gaga is probably closer To Marilyn Manson than Madonna |

Perhaps the coach has already seen enough of the guy in practice and preseason to know, without any doubts or reservations, that the guy just can't play anymore.
And, if thats the case, putting him in the lineup would just be pointless. |

But I think Hakstol can make the case that he's not keeping up in practice. And if he can't earn his way into the lineup, then he won't be in the lineup. It goes both ways. You can say he's not giving him a chance and you can also say he's not going to put someone in just based on his history and contract.
I get what you're saying though and barring any trades, I'm sure he will find himself in the lineup sooner or later for a few games. |

I don't think Hakstal is going to put a guy in the lineup just to see how he does. It's his job to ice the team lineup he thinks has the best chance of winning a game. Last night, he thought that lineup didn't include Vinny. I don't think it has anything to do with not giving him a fresh start. |

So out of all our players within all the results so far, Vinny is far and away the worst and will bring down our team in one game? |

Pretty much. Lecavalier had trouble keeping up in the 3/4ths speed preseason games. I'm sure he wasn't much better in practices & I'm sure that Hakstol has seen plenty of video of last season. He's also got input from his assistants who have been here for awhile & watched Lecavalier up,close
All Lecavalier has left is that he's a good shot. That isn't enough to mitigate his flaws & poor systemic fit |

According to Hakstal, it seems that is the case, although I don't know if it's "far and away" so much as simply the worst. |

I get what you're saying with the new coach bringing a clean slate. Gudas and Gagner didn't have great camps either. At the end of the day, though, I don't think he can completely throw out their histories. Gudas is a younger player who can improve, and while he didn't look that good in camp he does bring physical elements the lineup needed. Gagner led all forwards in scoring on his previous team, despite both a bad camp and being on a weak team.
Hakstoll can't entirely throw their histories in the trash when making decisions. They're going to be considered in regards to their capabilities. What does Vinny's recent track record suggest he can bring to the table that we didn't see in the preseason? The Flyers must get off to a good start to have any hopes of a playoffs appearance this year. There's no time to worry about being fair to Vinny, not in October at least. |

Absolutely. This isn't midget/pee wee hockey where you make sure that all of the kids gets to play. Hakstal has to be concerned only with trying to win as many games as possible. If he feels that Vinny doesn't help him do that, then he shouldn't play him whether or not Vinny thinks it's fair. |
