For those with access to the free week of NHL Center Ice, Pittsburgh's home opener vs. Montreal is on right now.
Apparently, Crosby hasnt even registered a shot on goal in the 1st two games. Its going to feel weird pulling for Montreal, but I think I can do it without hurting myself. - Doc_Sarcasm
I have center ice and not only does crosby not have a shot on net But him and Kessel line got scored on |

There is so much doom and gloom around Vinny. So many reasons to keep him from playing but he's one player. You argue the point but it's hard for me to say Riley Cote was good at anything and not only did he play, he was dressed often. - SuperSchennBros
I don't think Riley Cote has anything to do with Lecavalier. Lecavalier is pretty much done, that's why he shouldn't play.

If you dress Vinny, you have to play him as though he's going to play an actual scorer's role, which he is ill-suited for at this point in his life. And you have to leave off someone who might actually score a goal. You don't play him on the fourth line, which is one reason Craig Berube is unemployed. |

Even if one were to call Cote a useless player, playing one useless player in the past does not beget playing another today. |

They'll want prospects. I doubt they even sniff near Read and MacDonald unfortunately. - mayorofangrytown
Would you give up a legit prospect, though? That deal, if one comes, is gonna look a lot more like.the Jarome Iginla deal, where you get mid-level suspects, I have a feeling |

What a ridiculous narrative, that Crosby didn't have a shot. He is clearly trying to set up his wingers, which is what centers do |

While.some.would disagree, MDZ has been the best defenseman on this team since he came.back.from.the scratching -- maybe it's tallest midget theory, but the ice time does not lie, to me - AllInForFlyers
Yeah, he likely is our best Dman and that is why making the playoffs this year is a slim shot at best. |

Centers also score goals, do they not? I think Crosby not having a shot on goal in two games is noteworthy, and not good for the Pens. For perspective, last season Crosby was 27th overall in the entire NHL in shots on net. |

The guy with the highest ppg of any nhl player over the past few seasons has 0 points and no shots verse Carolina Dallas and now one period of montreal. And they got scored on tonight on a bad ddefensive play by crosby and kessel. It is a ridiculous narrative it's just pure enjoyment to watch. |

That was a lovely thing to see. Montreal is off to a great start. If they get any kind of consistent scoring this year, they are going to be very tough to beat.

He didn't have Phil.Kessel.on his wing last year. I watched them in their first game and tonight, and he is fine. Overanalysis at its worst |

Crosby has had good wingers in the past, and has always put up high shot totals. I don't think it has anything to do with Kessel. Crosby having zero points and no shots on goal after two games, combined with Pittsburgh being 0-2 to start the season, is noteworthy in my opinion.

I'm not giving up prospects for a declining superstar. Especially one that could turn into another Lecavalier deal. |

My comment didn't address how the Pens would be moving forward, only in regards to the first few games.

I have little interest in moving prospects or picks period. We have a course let's see how it goes. |

There is pros and cons. If I can get a player that can help us for a player that can't help us than I'd be open to trading mid tier prospects or picks. There is very little that could make me trade a top prospect or top pick. But hextall was a part of the trade that brought Richard to la. And look at Buffalo how they rebuilt on the fly using their assets. At some point hextall will make some deals. It's just not today |

Any thoughts on San jose.
They got rid McLellan.
They got rid niemi.
Matt jones has been good but questions if he's a real number 1.
They've been dominant.
So... good luck with that Edmonton see you at the lottery drawing |

I think they're in real trouble. Prior to the season, I expected them to have the usual trouble of sustaining a fast start with a top six that was worn down from too many minutes during the bulk of the season, and the usual spate of nagging injuries. But, they're not off to a fast start, and they havent looked good from what little I've seen so far.
This Penguins team is not a Stanley Cup contender, in my idiot opinion. |
