Depending on when you think the Flyers playoff hopes really ended last season, last night was the first meaningful win since February or March. - Feanor
I thought that both of the wins over Pittsburgh were meaningful. Even if they weren't for the Flyers (to me, any game between those 2 is meaningful), it meant that the Pens had to face NYR in the first round and got blown away. |

He played very well, including a key part in the only goal. He also played aggressively and was huge on the PK.
But I'd guess you'd rather trade him for Rinaldo?

He doesn't play "Flyers hockey" (aka getting in fights and throwing huge hits) enough. Trade him now for Jon Scott. |

Not sure what you're looking at. Luke Schenn has been one of the top physical defenseman in the NHL for years. - MJL
unfortunately for Luke he is also mistake prone and slow a foot. When you lumber around like that the mistakes stand out. I think Manning has a bit more offence and is an over all better skater. I think either is fine in a bottom pairing to be honest, just think the Flyers appear to want to move on from Luke. |

Not talking hits/board play as much as getting into people's heads on top of all that.
Going after Shawn Thornton of all people |

They look so hesitant on the power play. A lot of chances last night I was screaming at the TV for them to shoot and instead G looks to make 1 too many passes and nothing ends up going towards the net. Shoot the puck and stop trying to be so cute with it! |

This is why you need a shoot first mentality sniper on the pp. They just don't have that guy. There 1st unit has been very successful over the past few years with a combo of very good puck movement and Simmonds creating havoc in front. But teams adapt, everyone now knows exactly what they are trying to do out there.
If they don't have that sniper (Yeah, if Vinny could just skate...oh well), they need to start changing things up a bit. They've become too predictable. |

A L. Schenn/MacD pairing would be one of the top pairings in the AHL. |

He created a few chances too. A couple of nice passes, including one that put Matt Read on a semi breakaway during a PK. |

Nice recovery from Saturday's debacle.
What minutia are we arguing about today? |

I am going to go out on a limb and say that you probably live on these boards where I am very part time person. |

whether Couturier's role in the only goal is HOF worthy, iirc |

Not sure.
Incidentally, what goes with the crow I'll have to eat if Brayden Schenn has a breakout year this year? |

Good win last night. Thought it showed more about the team that they won 1-0 with their backup goalie than if they'd won 5-2 or something like that.
Also, Ekblad is really good already. Kinda scary. Has the potential to be a top 5 dman in the league. Even though the Flyers didn't make the move for him at the draft, it shows that Hexy's talent evaluation is pretty good. |

I loved how Simmonds was out there challenging everyone and how he steamrolled Petrovic. I think he realizes he has made a few mistakes and is trying to show the Coach what he can do! Like B Schenn's game as well playing physical and driving to the net. |

I had a dream last night they traded Amac and a 3rd round pick for Brad Marchand, concussion and all. And I was happy about it. And I hate Marchand.
Sheesh. |

Son, you remarking that anyone has made an asinine statement is the textbook example of the pot calling the kettle black.
Have a nice day.
