He is a key piece to one of the best PK units the league has every year. Teams want that. He would instantly slot into 1st PK unit on almost every team we could trade him to. That with providing good 3rd line scoring and general shut down makes him valued. We may have to eat some salary, but not like he has a lot of time left on his contract. - Retinalz
I think teams need youth and players who are more than 1 dimensional. True, maybe a team like Jersey who is in ---- where exactly are they in their rebuild??? --- could possibly use him but I would think they would rather throw the dice on someone who is younger.
The only specialist I see a team needing today is a faceoff guy. Higgin's skill set can be beaten with speed.

I was always kinda on vantel's wavelength with Lucic, but I don't think JB will go there.
Like a lot of us saw last night, he looks slow.
By next year, certainly the year after Virtanen = Lucic plus, he's way cheaper, also a local guy, and not an a-hole.
The canucks have jettisoned all their a-holes, and they look like more of a tight knit team unit as a result.
No reason to add a slow, a-hole, with an attitude problem at any price. - noisewater
I like what 1040 had to say about him yesterday... he was never known for speed but coca--- oops, wrong story....he was never known for speed and the ice in LA is maybe the worst in the league which makes it worse. LA may not be the best spot for him. |

Should be 1-1 now, gibbons refuses to play small ball. Tulo should have bunted, Martins PPP fly would have brought in the run. If they try to just smash the ball all day, it won't work. |

I'm really happy to see the boys off to a quick start - I recall an interview with Benning or WD during the pre-season saying it was exactly their goal to get off to a quick start. It's going to be a tough division to get through and any distance they can put between themselves and other is going to be beneficial down the stretch.
With respect to Prust, I had noticed that his style is to tie the other guy up as much as possible and then sneak the odd shot in. |

Only 4 players without a point Vrbata, Sbisa, Virtanen & Weber. Weber & Virtanen have only played 1 game, so I'll give them a pass. The sad part about this is Vrbata leads the team in SOG. - A_SteamingLombardi
He probably leads the team in shots that missed the goal too. |

Current #1 worry: Chris Higgins.
Where does he fit in?
He is not a goal scorer.
He is slower than most of his linemates and certainly slower than the rookies.
He is not a checker. - Beatle_john

Not any more he couldn't . Teams are very reluctant to give up first second or third round players especially for 32 year old 3 Rd line players that don't score 20 goals.
There are still 20 unsigned UFAs that won't cost anything right now. The only thing it would cost is salary. |

My mistake.
I had the face pictured in my head just the wrong name , but the song is appropriate |

Could we get a third for Higgins?
What does he bring to the table other than a third line body. I think he is the last of the true Gillis dreams that went thud.
He is Jim Sandlak, Taylor Pyatt and Stere Bernier all rolled into one.
(2 points for a Jim Sandlak reference!) - Beatle_john
This...is more realistic. A 2nd for a 10-12 goal scoring 3rd-4th line guy is too much of a reach. We missed the boat on Higgins now we will get what we get. Nucker? Thoughts? |

I was on board for acquiring Milan Lucic too. Although he has disappointed thus far, it's been a couple games and the whole Kings team has looked out of sorts from Goalie to D to forwards...there is a lot of talent on that team, and a lot of sucking.
let's revisit this debate next off-season. |

as much as we all enjoy you're 'flagged' comments, i'd rather toss around the (largely unrealistic) ideas of bringing in various hockey players and imagining how they would fit with our team and within the payroll...because this is a rumour site after all |

IT's funny that Carol mentioned Green Day and how they're totally out of fashion these days...i've thought that this would be a great entrance song...

would need to be remixed a bit, but mashing up the intro and chorus would be fun i think.
