Yeah, no sense in trading (for) anybody right now, tbh.
Just keep growing as a team -- wait for the kids to trickle in. - Tomahawk
Other than maybe trading a defenseman, I don't know why the Flyers would be looking to make a trade right now. The cap situation is not dire as it has been characterized in my opinion, either now or in the future. If the Flyers get a ton of short term injuries, than that could force them to do something. It's not ideal to be as low as they are, but it's not an urgent matter. I think the longer the season goes, even towards the deadline, the higher a players value such as Luke Schenn could get. No reason to be in a hurry to do anything. Where the Flyers are in March/April should determine Hextall's approach. Unless some team makes you an offer you can't refuse.

Besides the obvious, Byfuglien, which I really hope is not the target, who might the Flyers be interested in, on Winnipeg? - MJL
It can't be can it ? Guys a UFA at end of season....can't see giving up what it would take....seriously we are a lot more then one guy away. |

I can't see it. They've committed to rebuilding the D through the draft. To make that kind of move now would make such little sense. Even more so that he's an impending UFA. |

First of all.. I don't believe 95% of Eklund rumor.
But if I'm the Flyers what makes sense is trouba. He's going to want a big contract one that Winnipeg not want to pay. He's 21 and right handed with size and he's already a nhl regular. That's the only guy whose worth it from their roster. And we would absolutely have to give up a top tier prospect for him. But I would say it's worth it. Again the Flyers keep insisting they aren't 5 6 years away. Well if that's the case than we need more than the d prospects we have cause it'll take 5 years for the entire lot to become impact players at minimum.

Think we see any fireworks in Pittsburgh if Ottawa pushes them to 0-5 tonight?
When this era's Pens get in a funk... boy, do things get wacky for them. |

They really shouldn't panic.
They're playing 50/50 hockey at ES, getting decent goaltending... with that much talent, how long will they be stuck at 4% shooting and 0% PP?
Not for long, I bet. |

I'm watching -- they just outshot Ottawa 17-6 in the first, including some 10-bellers, including one from the slot that I can't believe didn't go
Yeah, they need a result soon, but this is crazy -- they are playing the right way |

Other than getting younger, how good is Elhers going to be? Wayne Simmonds is a very good player, with a great contract. I think Wayne Simmonds is and could be a better 5 on 5 player in the right circumstances. I don't view him as a PP specialist like others do. - MJL
Right there is the allure of moving Simmonds potentially. There is a log jam at RW. B. Schenn if he has to play wing, seems more comfortable on the right side. I really don't think they want to move B. Schenn. He offers a pretty diverse offensive skill set, more so then Simmonds IMO. After Coots extension, I wouldn't call him untouchable, but for him to be involved in a trade would be for something really blockbuster (frankly his value and term probably is going to be better then Simmonds). Any attempt to move Read or Raffl, you would selling low. So, that would leave Simmonds the most likely to be dangled.
I'm not trying to minimize Simmonds' contribution on the ice. However, if I could get a good young player (preferably entry level contract) for Simmonds, I think Hexy would think about it.

Malkin, finally -- it really was getting ridiculous. I can see them pumping four more past Anderson tonight if they play like they did in the first |

To get Trouba, you'd have to give up a top tier prospect plus. Trouba is an established NHL defenseman. As highly ranked as the Flyers prospects are, none of them are a guarantee

Jets home opener tomorrow. Forget a trade at this time people are in love with the team after last year/this years start. People forget Winnipeg operates differently. We be crazy up here. |

The Pens' defense is pretty damn weak, but I can't believe they haven't been scoring. They were shooting absolute bullets in at least three of these games

I think it makes him more valuable to keep. I don't see a logjam at right wing, at least not right now. I'm not refuting Simmonds value in a trade. If the Flyers offered him up, there'd be a lot of teams in line.

Still no thanks. I would like to see this path Hextall has the team on continue for a longer stretch before making a move that would give up those kinds of assets. |

Doubt they want Simmonds anyway -- as crazy as it might sound, but they already have Wheeler and just extended Stafford
I actually believe Winnipeg was more likely looking at the Blackhawks to see if Bickell has anything left |

I'd give them Sanheim. Honestly I believe trouba Is a top 2 with edge. Seabrook comparison. Prospects are unknowns. At some point we can't just wait and wait for rookie d prospects. He said a number 1 you can't trade for. Doesn't mean you ccan't trade for a really good young player. I don't believe hextall will wait 5 6 7 years to be a contender I just dont. Patience is one thing but a 7-10 year plan is reserved for the sixers. |
