They did and a couple idiots took it even further, parading around MSG in Flyers #31 jerseys with "Dead" on the nameplate rather than Lindbergh. - bmeltzer

Trouba is great but there's every reason to think Provorov can be just as good, and be a 20 minute a night guy at 19 years old like Trouba was. - Feanor
This is most likely true. The advantage to Trouba is that he is a proven NHL player and a righthanded shot. But, Provorov may very well end up being just as good or better. |

You seem to be very down on Mason lately. Not that you're not allowed, I'm just curious what's behind it. - ThirdEye
I like Mason as a player....I think its just alot of drama with his personal things and the goalie coach thing last year |

Besides the current situation, what other drama was there with his personal things? The issue with the goalie coach had zero to do with Mason, and was between the goalie coach and management and/or coaches. |

A lot of drama? We're four games in and suddenly we should trade Simmonds due to slow start. Most of us don't even lnow what Mason's personal problem is.
I think too much is made of every issue. Vinny should be taken to an undisclosed location until he agrees to end his career as a solid favor to the Flyers. Holmgren should be cleaning the toilet stalls after ever loss in Wells Fargo due to the current state of the team.
Seriously guys, be cool. |

I agree with you completely on Mason and Simmonds.
Concerning Lecavalier, do you believe that he can still be an effective player? |

I believe he can be an effective player on the power play. Other than that he doesn't have much to offer (most likely less) than others on the ice. |

That's what it seems like doesn't it? It's like scooping out a bowl of ice cream for yourself, eating one spoonful, and putting it back in the freezer for later! |

First off you don't know what personal issue he has dealt with and any kind of personal issue affects each person differently. And the goalie coach thing was out of his hands and I think it just surprised him as he gotten along well with Reese. |

I don't think Vinny is so terrible that he should be forced into retirement, effectly ending his career as a favor to the Philadelphia Flyers, as if there isn't a role for him on any NHL team in the league. |

If there was a spot for him on another team, don't you think the Flyers would have gladly handed him over by now? |

Sorry to post a Sixers article in here, but I found this very interesting.

Dumb article. Basically just a retread of prior articles along with lazy journalism and pure speculation. Article literally adds nothing new except that Embiid loves Shirley temples. Although, Embiid has discussed this on his Twitter quite frequently. So really nothing to add. |

If there was a spot for him on another roster, Vinny has always had the option to mutually terminate the contract and seek a spot elsewhere. That he hasn't is a bit telling. Maybe it's just about the money, but I'd bet all the change in my pocket that he probably isn't confident he'd get another contract. |

Well I disagree with you. Lecavalier's core is shot to the point where he can no longer play at an NHL pace. He wasn't a great skater to start with. The hands and instinct are still there, but the skating is not.
This is a lousy thing, but it's a business. Other than a game here or there, Lecavalier would not play on a regular basis if I was involved. He is the 14th forward. If there is a long term injury and we need to get that far down in the depth chart, I would call up a player to fill that spot. The message would be clear to Lecavalier that he has no role here, and his choices are two fold. Retire early, or mutually terminate and try to catch on with another team. It's sad, but what are the odds that after pretty much sitting for two seasons, that he can make another team after this season? Lecavalier's career is pretty much over, and he needs to accept it. |

He worked his ass off and reportedly came into camp in great shape. It didn't matter. He just doesn't have the physical tools anymore. |

Exactly. I don't begrudge him for it, it's just the way it is. |
