He has a lot of Mike Green in him when the playoffs come around. Green disappears after he's hit a few times. - rangerdanger94
I am being a little hyperbolic on Letang. I think he is a really good player. But, I also think he is one of the most overrated players in hockey.

Letang disappears in the regular season too. When was the last time he played 90% or more of a regular season? |

Considering he's playing like 30 minutes a game this season so far because the rest of Pitt's defense, including Olli "Next Lidstrom" Maatta, is terrible, probably not this year either. |

He doesn't have the frame to handle that type of physical responsibility. He is a diminutive player that breaks down rather easily. |

He probably just went straight from Toronto to Montreal. It's the same distance as going from NY to Montreal (approx). And the food's better in MTL. Everything is better in MTL than TO, actually. - hscesq

The Rangers will win. In a blowout. There'll be fire and torches and perhaps dinosaurs in the pre-game. Wouldn't surprise me if Beliveau's coffin is wheeled out. And then there'll be a huge letdown and that will be that. - hscesq

I know, right? neither has Hank, but, at least Eddie was a real man and played without a mask. Pretty boy has never done that.
- DONMURDOCH14
Still bothers me Richter's career was ended from a puck off the mask, and Hank does it on purpose. I'm sure the masks are made better now, but damn I wish he would stop (frank)ing doing it. |

I think it's an excellent tactic that Henrik doesn't utilize frequently enough. |

I get the point you are making, but it was a knee to the head that ended Richter's career |

I thought it was the puck to the side of the mask that started everything. Maybe I am mis remembering it. |

I think it was both, he did get a puck to the mask that gave him a concussion, but I know it was a knee to the head that caused him never to play again |

Ahh ok.
Some reason the knee to the head is alluding me. I just remember the puck near the temple and when he took the mask off he was bleeding. |

I think it was Todd Marchant who kneed him in the head early in 02-03 season |

I WAS AT THE GAME, it was late 2001-02 season, he got hit first in warmups with a shot, then twice in the first few minutes of the game he was hit in the head, the second by Chris Tamer & it was a laser from center ice that Mike didn't even see coming it seemed. Lights out.
Then early in the next season he had the player on Edmonton run into him & that was the end. He didn't announce retirement until right before the start of the 03-04 yr. |

yep, that's it
but the original point is well taken, it's cringeworthy that lundqvist uses his head to stop shots considering everything, I agree with that |

Chris Tamer slap shot, to the mask in 2002, is what started Richter's concussion issues. |

It was a shot from Chris Tamer that started the mess and the subsequent concussion that sealed it
