Problem is that a GM looks at it differently. make the playoffs and anything can happen, other team gets some big injuries, or your players start playing better than themselves. It is hard for a GM to justify trading important players. Can often send a message the team that you don't think they can win, so why bother trying?

i'll agree with that, options as i see it for Hammer...

A. Canucks are out of playoff contention and he is moved at TDL
B. He becomes redundant and JB is convinced that we have enough horses to replace him and he is traded at the TDL or earlier.
C. He is viewed as an integral part of the team and mentor to our young D and he is resigned.

I personally would be happy with all of the above, depending on how the season unfolds.

I like how understated the Habs home opener ceremony is. It's not painfully drawn out or cheesy at all.

I agree, the way Hutton is playing give him 3/4 of the season to develop then he can go on the second line for Hamhuis, and although hes expiring I hope bartkowski gets a two year extention hes looking like a good player. What about Hamhuis to St.Louis for a first and tommy vanelli?
