the bills D has allowed 98 points in their last 3 home games
the bills have scored 63 points in their last 3 home games
with all the hype, from the media, fans and coach about how great the D is, an 0-3 record is inexcusable for those 3 games when all the money is spent on the D
21 points a game at home with this D should be good enough to go 2-1, not 0-3 - homiedclown
The problem is that a good majority of those 21 points per game that the offense is scoring is happening late in the game. Meaning the offense is completely ineffectual for the majority of it. You can't expect the D to stay fresh and effective when they're only getting 3 plays of rest between series. |

Is that not one of those moments where you just have to tip your cap to a very good/great QB?
It kinda surprised me a little how different the build of the 2 Buffalo teams is. Sabres tore it all the way down to get the franchise guy, Bills did some patch work in the off season to put together a wild card team.
You'd think the Bills would want to take a page out of the sabres book, especially now that they're owned by the same guy. - Sabresfan-365
Oh, absolutely. Which is why you need the offense to be better. If the offense is on the field, the oppositions QB isn't. |

Goes back to what i (well coller really) said though, that's a lot of pressure on your D. Meaning even if they're top 5 every week it's still not good enough to make up for the offence. |

I wonder if that becomes the plan if the year ends with an 8-8 record. |

This new lottery system could make this a real interesting off season.
I see us around the 4-8 range and the chance to sneak up into the top three could really help find that last piece.. yet at the same time a chance to fall a spot or two would only add to the buffalo luck.
On the plus side it's nice to finally have the depth to draft a top end player and not force them into a starting role. - yen6d1
there is a big difference in this team vs last year
this team is competing on the ice, and the quality of play shows
I will wait 10 more games before I judge the sabres |

your D can't give up 57 points in the first half for 3 games
esp when most of your cap is spent on the d
period |

in the NE and Cincy game, the o went right down the field and scored a td on opening drive, and because they could not do it on the next 2 drives, they were down a td both times

I'm not giving the D a pass by any means. But the offense has been much more underwhelming than the Defense has been.
But the moral of the story is that BOTH sides need to be better.
Actually, the special teams needs to be better too, as that's also been pretty underwhelming too. |

they are an average team with an overpaid d line, below average lbs, average secondary, average at best o line, blah wr's, an ok qb if he can stay healthy, blah special teams (punter excluded)
when your punter is your best player, your not going anywhere |

He's been very good. I was definitely impressed with the punt from the back of the endzone that he got past the 50 yard line. That was like a 65 yard punt and it's not like he got bonus yards with it bouncing and rolling. It was 65 yards through the air. |

Observations from the first few games:
1) Kane forechecks like a mother
2) The players that are below average skaters (Franson, Legwand) are really hurting the team.
3) I was a fan of Gionta's last year but he doesn't belong anywhere near the top 6. He has clearly lost more than a step and that magnifies his small stature).
If they fix 2 and 3 they could dominate sooner rather than later. |

zero sacks yesterday. Dalton had all day. Terrible scheme by the DC |

Throw in Bogoisian and couple that with more experience for the young guys and the team learning to play together as a whole, yes. |

Average drive starts the last 3 games in the first half was atrocious. The D was put at a disadvantage. Short fields are not a D's friend. Neither is 3 consecutive 3 and outs when their offense is on the field. |

At least Gionta and Moulson are on the 3rd but damn it put Larsson there and Girgensons on the wing with Kane and Eichel enough already. |

I think Bogosian is going to look great because of his size and speed. Do they have the guts to take out Franson? I haven't minded Weber's play so far.

On WGR this morning they were blaming Rex for the D problems. He should have left it alone. It wasn't broken and the changes he made are more for an inept defense. This one didn't need any changes. He has Darius backing up when he should be going forward. Etc. |
